How do I take out the power steering ump to replace a serpantine belt in a 98 buick park ave?

Vin K or Vin 1 ?
Removal Procedure
The accessory drive belt drives all engine mounted accessories. All driven accessories are rigidly mounted to the engine. Drive belt tension is maintained by a spring loaded belt tensioner. A belt squeak when the engine is started or stopped is normal and has no effect on belt durability. The drive belt tensioner can control belt tension over a broad range of belt lengths; however, there are limits to the tensioner's ability to compensate. Using the tensioner outside of its operating range can result in poor tension control and/or damage to the tensioner.
Important: Ensure that the wood block extends past the width of the oil pan in order to avoid damage.
  1. Use a jack with a block of wood on the jack under the oil pan in order to support the engine.
  2. Remove the engine mount to engine mount bracket nuts.
  3. Remove the engine mount bracket front upper and lower nuts.

Remove the engine mount bracket front upper and lower studs and spacer.
Lower the engine as necessary and rotate the tensioner to remove the drive belt.
Remove the drive belt.
Don't need to remove power steering pump if done right !

Where do you put tension on the power steering belt. 1996 2.0 engine

I'm assuming you have a turbo engine because the turbo motors don't have a tensioner for the power steering. Just get a prybar or big screwdriver or anything like that. Use it to pry the PS pump toward the front on the car and put tension on the belt. They you can tighten down the bolts to secure it.

1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse 2.0 non-turbo DOHC engine vin y. Car stalled and turns over but will not start. Towed to repair shop and at first they said it was a defective cam or crank sensor, but now they say...

don't get the "Cardone ECC model 793013" . i just check it out and when you click on the " See all vehicles this product fits " link, it shows this:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5fcbf9f.jpg ------------------------------------------------------------------

the problem with it is that the '97 PCM will not work on a '98. the pinouts on them are slightly different. The only 2 years that are interchangable are the 98 and 99 year models.
The part number for the correct one is 5293190AC.
16f1c7b.jpg

If you get a remanned PCM that needs progamming, anyone or any shop with the correct programming tool can do it.

  • PCM (ECU) REPROGRAMMING

1995~1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS & GS with 2.0L non-turbo engine (Chrysler 420A engine) ECUs have been equipped with reprogrammable processors since 1995.
To reprogram Mitsubishi vehicles, you must use one of two different reprogramming tools. For the 1995~1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS & GS (with Chrysler 420A engine), you must use a Chrysler Flash Reprogramming Unit, MIT992000-A . Click here to order one from SPX, or call them at 1-800-533-5338.
----------------------------------

I would suggest just buying a used (98 or 99)PCM. Then all you have to do is unplug the old one, take out 3 bolts to remove the bracket/PCM, pull it out, 3more bolts to remove the ecu from the bracket and bolt the new one in place. Its about a 5 min. job.
