Hello, This is a tough problem to find when there are no Diagnostics. I suspect the problem is due to a term called "Heat Sink"
What this term means is that the engine compartment is getting hotter when the engine is just shut off, than when it is running. When the Tow truck moved your car, wind passed by while the Tow truck moved your vehicle. This helped cool it off regardless of when the car was towed.
A lot of times the heat shields on the Catalytic converters are rusted off. In a pursuit vehicle, they could have been knocked off. This means someone needs to look under your car to see what is missing.
The electric components like the Ignition module, coil, Relays, and fuel lines can be overheating.
Try opening your hood when you park your car at home and then go out shortly afterwards and try starting the car. If it helps, you need to find the component that is overheating and replace any missing heat shields.
I hope my solution is very helpful. You can also get FREE scans at Autozne, Advance, and Oreillys autoparts when you get a Code light.
Hello, have someone check the Battery. I can not tell if the Battery is cranking at full speed from here. There are 2 other things you can try when it does not start. Its hard to explain, but you can open the gascap and see if it has pressure or suction when the engine is just turned off. Kind of like opening a pop bottle. If removing the gascap somehow helps the car start, the Emissions venting is messed up or you have Vapor lock.
By removing the gascap shortly after Parking, you are venting into the atmosphere BUT you are pressure neutral on the Emissions venting. Without doing this, the only other test would be to press on the fuel line test tap before the fuel linjector rail. This tap should have raw gas coming out, but if you find Air Vapor instead of raw gas, it confirms Vapor lock. A mechanic would be recommended for the raw gas test.
Hello, Would like to know if you are fixed and what the cause of your problem was. Thanks

Hi,
It's me again, the 97 Crown Vic. I understand exactly what you're saying and will have someone look under my car ASAP. The one thing that I just don't get is.... even when it's not towed, if I wait a lil while, it still starts. It's like as soon as the engine cools down, it starts, even without towing it. I live in NC, where our temps have been anywhere from 95 to 100 degrees, every day. I drive my car to work at 9am, get in at 5pm and it starts almost perfectly. if i drive it about 30 miles, stop to go in a store, it won't start when I get back in the car, 5 mins later. It's like....as soon as the engine gets real hot, it don't start. I have to wait a few hours sometimes, then it starts. I stopped driving it anywhere except work, because I no there is plenty of time for engine to cool. I live 7 miles from where I work and when i shut my car off, it will usually start right back up. Not sure if that's cause engine didn't get hot enough, due to only driving 7 miles. I just don't no!! Please help!!!!
