Intake manifold
If you're replacing with a stock intake it's a pretty straight forward job...drain coolant, disconnect battery, remove belt, remove alternator and bracket to intake manifold, take note of where each spark plug wire goes, twist plug wires 1/4 turn in each direction then pull up being careful not to tear long rubber boots on wires, leave spark plugs in so no dirt or coolant gets into cylinders.remove e.g.r tube from throttle body, disconnect all vacuum lines and all sensor connectors, you have to be careful removing injector connectors because they become brittle and will break very easily, remove bolts for throttle body and remove body,.relieve fuel pressure from fuel rail by putting on a fuel pressure tester and with a relief valve, there's various ways to release fuel pressure, this is safest, then disconnect fuel line from rail (if you don't want to do it that way you can leave fuel line on and remove 4 8 mm bolts for fuel rail and remove rail and fuel injectors all together, take injectors out from intake not fuel rail by pulling on them from bottom of injectors near intake)remove coolant hoses at back passengers side of intake, remove 2 10 mm bolts for thermostat housing, remove T stat...there may be a bracket on the drivers side rear of intake, (remove top 15 mm bolt, and remove ground cable at back side of head, think it's a 13 mm bolt, then remove 15 mm bolt holding the back of bracket, it's gonna be tight back there but doable with wrench) remove the rest of the 10 mm bolts holding the intake manifold on, remove intake...remove intake gaskets taking care not to let any dirt or debris to get into head ports, I usually put a clean rag in each hole, and clean around them then blow out anything that might have fallen into any ports.you can look rite down into them to make sure everything is clean.make sure all dirt is off head surface and install new gaskets, they lock into place on heads if installed correct. Put on new intake and hand tighten bolts..these bolts have to be torqued in order..starting from the middle of intake torque bolts to 15-22 lb-ft going in a crossover order (right side, left side, right side in an X pattern from center out)...install all connectors and components in reverse order , fill fluids and check over for any leaks or anything loose...I maverick have missed a few small steps but think im pretty close...this isn't a bad job, but take your time and mark anything you think you might not remember where it goes...good luck..any other questions please contact me..
