SOURCE: My mitsubishi 4D56 wouldn't start

did you purge the air from the fuel system, or try to start it with ether? you may want to check the timing again if no fuel is being supplied to the engine.

SOURCE: What is the normal rpm

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

The rpm should sit on 1,000 to 1,200 at least. It tends to go down to 700 to 850 when engine is warmed up.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Mitsubishi 4d56 the oil is not coming up in the cylinder head why could be the cause?

Hi Sylvester.

If there is no oil in the cylinder head, it'll break down (pardon the expression) into a few possibilities:
  1. There isn't any oil to pump: Check oil levels with dip stick and top off/service as needed.
  2. Nothing is moving oil up into the cylinder head. Oil pump may be shot. Diagnosing the finer details or how to repair that go above my ability to deliver detailed advice.
  3. Oil is there and being pumped, but can't move. Oil filter could be way overdue for service and is clogged. Or something else has gunked up or broken and is keeping the oil from flowing where it's supposed to.
Determining a few of these can at least narrow down what the likely problem is. Fortunately, if it's not the oil pump, then the odds of a not-too-expensive fix might be fairly good - an oil and filter change might be all that's needed.

Good Luck

I have a mitsubishi 4D56 Engine ( Hyundai ) - which blew a head gasket. We removed and recon'd head and re fitted. We fitted new rings. The engine is now pushing oil out the breather. What is causing this?

If you put new piston rings in the engine without doing anything to the cylinders themselves, you most likely have a sealing problem between the rings and the cylinder walls. This will cause blowby and pressurize the crankcase causing the problem. Also check for a clogged PCV valve.

How do i replace oil pump belt? do i have to remove bottom pulley

howdy. what's you engine? most mitsu diesel engine have the oil pump attached to the crankshaft. if its a 4D56, maybe you mean the shorter timing belt holding the oil thrower, balancer shaft. if this what you mean ,then yes. you have the remove the bottom pulley as well the the timing belt covers, the longer primary timing belt.

Noise from engine, oil indication on , before one year change balance shaft and bearings on mitsubishi outlander year 2004,4x4,suspect the same problem now?

do not run engine with red oil light on, it can cause severe damage. Check oil level first. If ok, then check oil pressure with a gauge. If oil is not low, you may have a clogged filter or a borlen oil pump inside the engine.

Pajero valve clearance 4d56 turbo and why engine oil pop out from dip stick while enging runing?

hi the clearance on these will be 0.25 hot ( just run ) and the reason why you have oil coming out from dip stick is either you have too much oil in and need to drain some, or somewhere on the vacuum system you might have a blockage which in turn is casing a pressure build up and is forcing the oil out...hope this helps
