I have a 2000 GMC 2500. My headlights won't come on. I have running lights and tail lights but when I turn the light switch to the "on" position the headlights go out. No high beams either. I have been driving with running lights only. They are not very bright. Any suggestions as to what is wrong. It happened all at once.

I cant turn off the headlights off while my 03 GMC Sierra Z71 is running, the manual switch does nothing unless the truck is turned off.

I have a 2003 GMC Sierra Z71 Extended Cab and the headlight switch won't turn off the headlights while the truck is running. When I got the truck the Photocell Sensor which is the black bubble that sits on the dash that tells the daytime running lights to turn off and on was down in the dash so I fished it out with my fingers and clipped it back in and it made the daytime running lights work. I still can't turn my headlights off while my truck is running though. The owner's manual says that I am able to do so. There's 2 light's on the switch by AUTO and the O for off that should light up? Is it my whole switch?

My tail lights wont shut off

usually when the headlights goes off so does the tail lights thats mean the brake light switch but the side markers are staying on too. it can't be the fuse since they still light. the only thing that breaks the currant is the switch. it sounds like there,s a problem with the headlight switch. the headlight switch operates the side markers and the tail lights along with the head lights. Hope this can helper .

Tail lights won't shut off

Tail light switch is stuck or bad, or there is a short in the wiring. the switch is on the brake pedal further up on the rod.

Tail light out but break light works on a 2000 yukon

Depend cause you got a running light and another one thats a running like along with brake light. If its the one that has the brake light and the light comes on when you brake and not when you turn on the headlights then you have a bad bulb .Replace that bulb and your set.good luck
