Car door bell won't stop ringing.

I have a 1997 Neon. The other day I heard a thud which sounded like it came from under the car. Then my car lost power and the door bell rang constantly. I took it for repair and they replaced the spark plug. The car runs, but the bell still rings. I don't see anything in the owners manuel, but was wondering if the ringing bell meant something else was wrong. Or, how do I get the bell to stop ringing. Thanks!

The engine light never came on. We checked the manual to see if the bell was a warning, but couldn't find anything. The sound was like when the car door is open with the key left in; only we were driving the car at the time. We filled all of the fluid levels and checked all of the connections. So far, the car has been running just fine, with no bell ringing. Hope that's all it was. Thank you for posting a solution and trying to help!

While driving a bell ringing happens when i make a right turn. sometimes the bell rings continually while i'm driving. what the problem?

Sounds silly but this is how i fixed my bell ringing. !st the ringing is the alarm when you open the door and the key is in the ignition or the car is running. I found the push switches that are on the side of the car and are operated when the door is shut have become loose. All you need to do is tighten them up a bit and the bell ringing will stop. When you make your right turn you probably push a bit on the door and that helps open the switch more. The switches are the contact switches that turn on the light as well as the warning sensors for open door. See if your dome lights flicker a bit as well.

'05 Neon Key won;t unlock door

you might want to spray the key hole with wd40 and keep trying your key both ways, they sometimes get dry and don't work or maybe even frozen.

The door indicating bell will not shut off!

find the fuse panel for your car. look for the relay for the doors. if you are not sure it will be the one that is very hot. remove it and replace it. that should fix the issue

''thud'' sound when starting

Is the "thud" sound after start then put in gear or a "thud" just after starting. If "thud" after in gear, could be a CV joint wearing out

Bell sound will not stop.

Hey Wizz,
Have you checked the "closed door" plungers?
My neighbor had the same problem. I found it to be the drivers side plunger. The plastic retaining ring had broken, leaving the curcuit open. Being two months later, I hope you have found it.
I drove it a half mile...... It was like Chinese water torture. AHHHHHHHHHHH!

Hope this helps.

Door ajar idiot light wont go out and bells is going off on a 1997 ford windstar minivan. which fuse do i pull thanks no manual

Sound like one of the door jamb switches is bad. Try taking a pencil or screw driver and pushing in on each door switch. Push the switch beyond the "flush" point to see if the switch is just not fully closing.
