SOURCE: My 88 Honda crx with

First thing. Are you inserting correct amp fuse in the fuse box.If the fuse amp is not correct, then it will blow again n again.Other thing.what is the fuse number under hood.Is it fuse number 14 or fuse number 34 under hood or any other fuse under hood.--------- And check engine light is ON.This is one good thing. If check engine light is ON.That means there is error code stored in the cars computer.Did you got the car scanned by obdI tool.To retrieve codes. The car brand models before 1995 are checked only by obdI tool. Some local car mechanics have this tool with them.Local car garages or auto stores provide this tool on rent too for testing codes. Most probably you should get codes.Once you get codes, as per codes, you will get what part is faulty and causing the problem. But if in case, you dont get error codes in scanning, then in that case, this fuse blowing can be related to short in wirings or fuel pump is faulty. The relay is clicking, but may be its getting short, so it blows the fuse and turn the fuel pump off.So check for 12 volts to the fuel pump relay and also inspect relay condition.Alsop try swapping other relay beside from the fuse box under hood.------------- This should help.thanks.Helpmech.

2004 pt cruiser keeps blowing fuel pump fuse, replaced fuel pump, no change.runs rough at idle and stalls, blows fp fuse, also replaced ign.coil, plug wires and plugs also changed relays

There are two fuses for the fuel pump relay. One fuse is load side of relay, that fuse also sends voltage to load side of asd relay, the asd relay sends voltage to several systems, two of which are the fuel injectors and ignition coil. I'm not telling you to replace, anything, but, you need to do some testing.
The other fuse goes to control side of relay, smaller amp fuse. I don't know the amp rating of the fuse that keeps blowing.
See that fuse, it supplies voltage to load side of fuel pump relay and also to asd relay.

How do I stop my efi fuse from blowing repeatedly. Just changed the fuel pump and now that fuse keeps blowing.

What about your fuel rail regulator, which is in the tank with the fuel pump on some cars? Does it have a pressure switch/sensor that isn't telling the engine control module to shut the pump off when the rail pressure is obtained? If you turn the vehicle to on (not start) and the pump runs more than a couple seconds, like until the fuse blows, it could be either a stuck pump relay or worse, the fuel pump control signal. Pull the pump relay, add a new fuse and see if the pump runs with the key in the on position again, which it shouldn't. If it doesn't run, the issue is either the relay, or the control signal to the relay that is keeping the pump on all the time, causing the fuse to blow.

It sounds to me like the pressure is going to high and stalling or slowing the pump causing excessive current from the motor and blowing the fuse. If that's the case your old pump might not have been the problem. How's the fuel filter? That's in line with the fuel line to the fuel rail?

You don't have to answer the questions, just look into them for your own peace of mind.

Fuel pump fuse always blows

disconnect the fuel pump and place a new fuse in the holder if it still blows go back to the relay and disconnect it and fit a new fuse. In the first instance if the fuse stays good the replace the fuel pump as you have a dead short in it.. If it blows at the relay replace the relay as the short will be there.

Fuse for fuel pump keeps blowing

Normally fuse blows off if more current passes through it than what it is designed for.

Probably it is worth checking what original fuel pump fuse amps requirements and have the same installed.

Also check the relay if there is a relay set for the fuel pump.

Good luck

Keeps blowing fuel pump fuse. Why?

This normally happens due to short in the wirings.Or if someone has connected a stereo or some other electrical contrivance to the wiring harness (bundle), either under the dash or under the hood.To confirm this unplug the fuel pump wiring connections and insert new fuse. Then start the car and see,if still the fuse blows then its a short in wiring. But if the fuse does not blows then its faulty fuel pump relay or faulty fuel pump itself. So first replace the fuel pump relay and see,if the fuel still blows then its faulty fuel pump. But if the fuse not blowing then relay was the faulty part. The fuel pump relay located on the fuse box under the hood.---------This troubleshooting tips will help you locate the fault and solve it.-------Thanks.Helpmech.

When i change the fuse that got ign on it it blows why?

Bad fuel pump or bad fuel pump relay, check the relay first that is located on the passenger side of the engine compartment by the windshield. I believe one of then are the fuel pump relay, disconnect the relay and see if the fuse will still blow. If the fuse doesn't blow, replace the fuel pump relay or check the wire harness.
Thank you for using fixya and good luck.

Will not start and checked fuel pump no power to fuel pump i also have blown fuse for ecmb that blows as soon as i replace it

ECM B fuse supplies a constant 12v hot at all times to the VCM/PCM and to the fuel pump relay. The fuse is blowing telling you that there is a short to ground somewhere. Try this, take the fuel pump relay out and put a new fuse in. If it doesn't blow put the relay back in and if it blows then try a new relay. The relay may be shorted to ground internaly. Other wise you'll have to trace the wires to the VCM and the pump relay to look for a chafed wire that's contacting metal. The wire coming from the ECM B fuse is orange and has a splice in it going to the pump relay and the VCM/PCM.
Hope this helps.....Andrew
