How to install a window lifting motor for a 98 Ford taurus

this looks like a motor mount. you will have to support the engine with a jack and unbolt the bolts of the mount and lift the motor high enough to remove old mount and install new.

Could be something binding in one of the tracks - did you check the movement of the glass with the motor out of the door ?

check the fuses if thats not it then change the blower motor instructions below, not that hard to do!

Disconnect the negative battery cable.

Disconnect the blower motor lead connector from the wiring harness connector.

Remove the blower motor cooling tube from the blower motor.

Remove the four retaining screws.

Turn the motor and the wheel assembly slightly to the right so that the bottom edge of the mounting plate follows the contour of the wheel well splash panel.

Lift up on the blower and remove it from the blower housing.

Installation the new blower motor by reversing the removal steps.

Connect the negative battery cable.

in the trunk of your car (down here we call it the booth) its on the left hand side - just lift the black cover - well that is where mine is

if the problem is just the drivers window then the window lift motor is defective.

If the motor is working but the glass is not moving something must have broke inside the door. See if you can sneak a piece of duct tape down along side the glass, get it down as far as possible. Use a butter knife or something to make the tape stick to the glass, now try pulling the glass up with the tape. You may want run the window motor at the same time maybe it will catch. If you get the window up, tape it with duct tape so you can get it to a shop to get it fixed. Good luck.

the switch maybe coming unpluged

If you are hearing the clicking from the power window relay the only things left would be a break in a wire or a failed window lift motor. If this window only goes down but not up I would inspect the wiring at the door jamb for a damaged wire. If this fails to go either way I would remove the panel, insert test light into the lift motor leads (X2)and actuate the switch, if I get power then I would replace the lift motor. If you get no power in one direction - test switch.

you either need a motor or motor and window regulator assembly.

1. Remove the front door trim panel screws.

1. NOTE: To release the door trim panel two part pin-type retainers, first pull outward on the bottom of the door trim panel.
   Remove the front door trim panel.
   • Disconnect the electrical connectors.

1. Remove the front door window glass. For additional information, refer to Front Door Window Glass in this section.

1. Disconnect the front door window regulator motor electrical connector.

1. Remove the window regulator rivets.

1. Close the window.

1. If equipped, remove the radio speaker.

1. Position the watershield aside.

1. Disconnect the door window regulator motor electrical connector.

1. Remove the bolts and the door window regulator motor.
