SOURCE: Door locks don't work

Disassemble the paneling on left side ,under the steering wheel. Remove all screws and pull out the panel until you can you can reach behind it to remove the two Black Relays, on the side closest to Steering wheel. Remove the Relay covers, Clean the contacts with a 1/8 fine strip of 600 wet/dry sand paper. Only place the paper between the contacts, and pull out while holding slight pressure on the relay Armature. Turn over the sandpaper and repeat once again. Very gently press the TOP resting contact pad closer to the armature, to lessen the gap between the contact points, so the armature doesn't have to travel as far to reach the closed contact position. Repeat the above with the other2nd Relay. Replace the covers, reinstall the relays And test the Door locks prior to buttoning up the paneling. Note, a pair of long needle nosed pliers will help in removing the relays. Just Grip the relay and rock in Forward and Backward as you apply upward pressure.

I had the exact same problem, went to the Mercedes dealer and they fixed it for free with a pair of pliers. They just pulled up the metal clips and turned them back into place.

Get to gas tank gas tank lock stuck

There is a cable that activates the lock on the tank door. Hit the unlock button and the go to the door and pry it open GENTLY with a non metal object e.g. plastic knife, popsicle stick, etc. If this does not work, then have another person hold open the door button while you pry it.

Saab gas tank locked

In the trunk, there should be a carpet panel and the gas door side. Pull the carpet siding back and there should be a lever labeled gas gap manual. Use that to manually release the lock

This is a wild guess, but it sounds like the switch that controls the door is constantly trying to open the door. It could be the door switch. Try locking the door with the door switch and then hold the lock slightly down to see if it is a mechanical failure in the switch. If not, the remote system may be sending the unlock. You could always pull the fuse for the automatic locks and see if the key will lock/unlock without problem. But then you'd never have remote entry.

My petrol cap wont unlock

Dear Trudi,
I am so sorry to say the locking gas caps for sale where I live ( Florida) are ALL no good these days.
I have locking caps on 5 cars that I maintain, and 3 times in the last year this has happened to me also.
I have had to return the caps to the store for replacement.
The only way I know to get them off is to drive a screwdriver into the key hole and unscrew it, or squeeze the whole thing with huge pliers, or some other barbaric fix.
Be really careful not to let any pieces fall into the gas tank, so cutting it with a saw would probably be a bad idea.
Be Blessed.

I can't open door of gas tank, when all doors are unlocked, audi A4 2009. is there other way to open that manually?

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. Try going through the trunk. There might be a cord or an access port that you may be able to find to get through. It should be on the same side as the gas tank port/gas cap. If your manual gas tank opener is not working, you might be able to get a hold of the cable and pull it. There is a cable that opens it.

Well you have a few issues here. As for the drivers door not locking/unlocking the vehicle, it sounds like the linkage that comes off the back of the tumbler has broken off. You can tell if this has happened because of the locks and also you won't feel any resistance when you turn the key in the door. For the gas flap lock either there is a leak in the vacuum system for the locks or the gas flap lock is bad. To manually open the gas flap lock you need to go through the trunk and behind the trunk panel where the gas flap lock is there should be a lever to manually unlock it or you can remove the screws that hold in the lock.

My remote central locking system has failed (not battery in fob) and I cannot access my fuel tank. Can I manually release the tank cover without removing all the rear panelling? VW Passat Estate 05 plate.

vw doesnt have an emergency release handle that i know of,you will have to remove the panel and then twist the cable end where the head of the gas door lock is, as you twist it will pop out, unless its electric release then do the same except there no cable just the lock head and a connector. the release seloniod may be bad or stuck, or the door may be stuck.hope this helps,

Electrical has mind of its own!

I think it's called Christine.
Allthough, volvos aren't without their electrical problems.
However, if a 'recall' was neccesary before, I would go straight back to the dealer.
Quickly, before she does something else!
Good luck with that.

2005 Chevy Malibu Maxx - Electrical Problems?

Hello I am not sure if this is the exact fix but I was having the same problem and I took my Malibu in to be checked and it appears to be a problem inside the steering column. When I turn the steering wheel it makes the door locks go crazy!! So although this is not a fix it may be a place to look for a frayed wire or a short in the wires. I am taking my Malibu in on Monday to be checked. Good luck to all having the same problem.
