My Jeep starts and runs fine going forward. When I put the transmission into reverse I blow the one fuse for the turn lights, back up lights etc. It drives forward and no fuse blows. I took out the bulbs to see if a bad bulb but it still blows the fuse when I shift into reverse. What can I do?

Hello and welcome to FixYa....Sounds like you have a direct short in the NSS, (neutral safey switch) RLS (reverse light switch)--- if it's fuse # 11 that you are blowing, then it's the safety switch.
It's located on the transmission, passengers side, about half of the way up. It is a fan shaped switch with a big nut at the bottom, it is adjustable.
It has slider type contacts in it that slide and click into position to complete a circuit when the gear selector is moved. Depending on type of tranny, the switch serves as 2 purposes, neutral switch & backup lights. It's probably full of gunk. I have removed them, taken them apart by removing the phillips head screws, cleaned with electric contact cleaner, coated with dielectric grease, reinstalled & and got another year and a half of service.
Here is what the switch looks like....I hope this helps, good luck with your Jeep.

2003 altima dash fuse blows when i put in reverse and alternator stops working

It is electrical, could be initiated by mechanical (shift lever mechanics are pinching a wire in reverse) or a shorted wire or solenoid in the reverse light system or transmission solenoid circuit. Need a detailed wiring diagram to determine path of circuit for that fuse. That is where you need to start. Try your local library or dealer for a service manual. Look Online also.

Transmission issue w/Ford Taurus?

Sorry to tell you this. You have an AXOD/AX4N Transmission and it is going bad on you. Soon, it is going to strand you on the road.

This Transmission is a Money Maker for the Mechanics and Transmission shops around the world.

Some people will put Lucas into their transmissions to extend the life of the Transmission but there are people who do that and cause it do DIE!!!! and I mean Immediately.

I am sorry to give you the bad news but at least it is Honest...

'99 Ford Crown Vic LX: #12 30A Maxi fuse blows seconds after starting or ignition turned on.

i had this problem with my 1999 jeep grand cherokee laredo with the brake lights it kept popping fuses right after the ignition was turned on try putting a higher amp fuse in place of the old one that keeps blowing then check for shorts to the starter and check grounds and wires and also the transmission issue check the fluid and then if the fluid is fine change the transmission filter the filter may have not gotten replaced when the transmission was rebuilt and may be clogged or dirty

Transmission suddenly stopped shifting. It works in 1-2nd &R. Was working fine then would not go forward and would stall the engine. It was like the wheels locked up going forward only, reverse was...

The transmission solenoids are not working properly. Probably requires a transmission rebuild.
I don't think it's in the ground strap or wiring.
It's an internal problem with the transmission.

Reverse light fuse blows when put into reverse

Unfortunately, many possibilities. If you have time, start by removing both reverse lamp sockets from light assembly(and keep from touching any metal), remove bulbs from sockets, CAREFULLY INSPECT sockets and wires. New fuse of correct rating. Turn key on and try again in reverse.
Fuse still blows: Next place to look is transmission reverse electrical switch and wiring as far as you can trace looking for burned/stripped wires near transmission and wires by sockets
Fuse doesn't blow: Turn key off and install one lamp in socket at a time. DO NOT install sockets into fixture at this time. Test. Remove first lamp to check second. If still O.K., each socket back into fixture(one at a time same as before)and test. Most common problems: Sockets contaminated, wires shorting at sockets, bulbs installed incorrectly shorting to ground.
