Yes, it sounds like you have a transmission that is about to fail and you need to get it into a transmission shop (NOT AAMCO) as soon as you can, or you will walk home very soon.

Hi. Thanks for your question. For the exact location of transmission sensor on 2006 jetta model you can visit https://www.reliable-store.com and download the entire workshop manual which includes all the information along with the diagrams for better understanding. Good day!
You need to connect to vag com or some else computer program to see the error code and when remove prroblem you need to delet the error from car computer memory to get rid of the light. The most common problems are: blown fuse, bad connection under the seat or something like that! But you can't do nothing without the comp.
Jetta's 2006 carry sealed gear box. There is no dip stick to check the transmission fluid. Per manufacturer, transmission fluid requires to change unless there is any issue with transmission. I hope this helps.
MIL (malfuntion Indicator light) or engine light. This means that your car's computer has something to tell you. You can use a code reader to get the info. The slot to plug it in is under the steering wheel. All you need is a cheap one to read/erase codes. You can borrow one from some auto parts stores, like AutoZone. It is simple, and it will tell you what is wrong with your car. It could be anything.
The tiptronic is not the DSG - two separate transmissions. You don't need to service the tiptronic every 40k like you do the DSG. VW considers the fluid in a Tiptronic tranny as "lifetime" fluid - it doesn't need to be changed.
