SOURCE: replace cabin pollen filter 2005 jaguar xkr

To get to the cabin air filter on an XK8 or XKR, you have to do the following steps (I know these steps sound ridiculous...as in many cars there is just a simple cover in the engine compartment... but...): The air filter is under the black plastic cowl or plenum that is just under the windshield wiper blade connectors. To get to that, you must 1. carefully lift off the plastic covers that reveal screw heads. Remove the screws. 2. lift off the plastic covers that are on the top of each windshield wiper connector - under the cover you will then see a nut or bolt that has to be unscrewed. 3. Using a small puller (the puller that lifts off battery terminals works for this) lift off each windshield wiper and disconnect the rubber hose from each. 3. lift the car's front hood, and remove the plastic cowling (you also have to lift the side rubber runners and a rubber strap from each side that holds up the rubber drain hoses). Once you remove that plastic cowling, you will see the air filter plenum at the back of the engine area. The air filter should come vertically out of that. (This air filter does not exist on my 2000 and earlier editions...I am not sure what year Jaguar installed them.) Full instructions are on the Jaguar JTIS CD which you should obtain...look online for that.

How do I set the brake light switch?

switch should be located on the metal piece above your brake pedal under the dash. Follow the metal brake bar to the top and there should be an electrical switch mounted there. when you dont have your foot on the brake the switch should be depressed against a bracket. When you push the pedal down the switch should no longer be depressed.Tha'ts how your brake light circuit works. Sometimes they can be adjusted. But most of the time you have to replace it. They are not hard to change. Just in a tuff spot under the dash. Before replacing the switch you should try turning the piece that makes contact out farther to try and add more pressure against the metal. I don't know if you turn clockwise or opposite.Try counterclockwise first. Good luck

I have a headlight out on my 2005 GMC Sierra Denali, how do I fix it?

Open the hood looking down at the top of the radiator support you will see two metal rods that go down through the support and through the head lamp assembly. turn the l shaped top out from under the retainer and lift them up and out. Now the headlamp should be free to pull out to get to the back of the assembly.

Many autoparts stores will assist you in changing the bulb if you purchase the bulb from them. J.

The gauges stop working sometimes. ie.

This sounds like your cluster. This 2 happened to my 2005 chevy cavalier. But my temp and oil pressures never stopped working. I would get a mechanic to find out exactly if it is your cluster. A bad ground or a short could possibly cause this problem 2.
This is quite an expensive part. But if you must know how to do it yourself then here it goes.
First you need to order the cluster so that you can replace it.
Then once recieved you have to remove the entire dash.
Once the dash is removed you can access the cluster. It is held on by a few bolts and a few wireing harnesses. Nothing major.
Replace it, put the wires back together and assemble the dash. Fairly simple once you can get to it.

To remove the dash I made a post earlier. Here is a cut and paste.

Clarification of the would be greatly appreciated. However the entire dash is held on with about 10-15 screws.
Open both doors and pop off the platic covers normally hiden when the doors are closed. Remove the screws from both sides here.
Then open the glove box. There are 2 screws that hold on a metal bracket, remove them.
On the top-middle of the dash there is a vent to defrost your windshield. One screw holds it on, remove it (phillips I believe). Then remove the screws under the vent so that the dash can be completly removed.
The top part of the dash a 5" strip closest the to windshield will have to be removed frist. By simply pulling it up from the sides.
The entire dash can then be removed fairly easy by pulling it apart from the housing for the odometer and across the entire dash.
The housing that is around your odometer can then be removed by simply removing a few screws across the top and under the radio. You will have to disconnect the wireing harness for the light adjuster left of the blinker on the dash. to remove this part. (I had a little trouble getting this out so I had to take apart the plastic housing for the ignition. 3 bolts slightly bigger then the ones on the dash under neath.)

Instrument cluster dose not work with out pulling fuse many times to get the cluster rest

Try rotating your key when its off untill everything in the car turn off, but don't actually start it. The point right before it starts. This does the same thing as pulling the fuse basically as it robs the power to it to start the car. You need to replace the cluster as this also happened in my 2005 Chevy Cavalier.

To replace you have to remove the dash entirely. Here is how.

The entire dash is held on with about 10-15 screws.
Open both doors and pop off the platic covers normally hiden when the doors are closed. Remove the screws from both sides here.
Then open the glove box. There are 2 screws that hold on a metal bracket, remove them.

The instrument cluster if held on by a few bolts/screws and wireing harnesses. Not hard to change once you get to it.

XKR convertable roof not working

The tops on the XKRs work on a hydraulic system, not electric like most american convertibles. Find the source of that leak in the wheel arc and youll probably find why your tops not working.
