2002 chevy avalanche died at a stop light and now wont start back up. it just cranks.

Check fuel pump relay under hood and fuse.If they are good it is going to be the fuel pump.

Try checking the condition of the following:


1) Spark plugs, leads and coils.
2) Air filter
3) Fuel filter.

Please report back after checking those, replacing and/or testing.

Check the ignition coil or ignition module something is not getting a spake

is/was the check engine light on??as far as no fuel try spraying some carberator cleaner in
the throtle body to see if it helps starting.

the motor on ur transfer case is locked up .... if u don't use 4x4 once in a wile it will happen to all GM trucks

if your security light is on it won't start. Leave the key for tens minutes or so until the security light flashes then it should start.

i have the same problem my avalanche wont crank, and the fuel gage dont go up, when the fuel gage works the truck starts but its been two days and it wont crank plz help...

Possible bad engine crank sensor. Electronic Control Module provides initial timing for start then depends on the crank sensor once started for timing and firing

Hello, I see you have an avalanche with no check engine light. I worked at a dealership and I had one come in with the same symptom. Look on the back of the passenger side head you have to feel the side by the transmission dipstick it has a ground supposed to be attached to the head, but over a period of time it will wiggle and break ,where mine would atcually arc back to the metal,and run for a while then break loose again yours sounds like it hasn't . Please rate this info I hope you find the shorted wire I'm talking about. Thank You

Does the starter make any noise or click when you turn the key to start? If it does not, chk. battery could be bad, and battery cables could be loose or corroded. If there good and clean and battery is good try tapping starter see if it will turn and start if it does or still clicks starter bad. It could be ignition switch if it does nothing at all, but if it clicks most likely its starter.
