SOURCE: i have a 1986 prelude that won't start.

There is no relay for the starter system on an 86 prelude only a starter solenoid. There is a 10ga wire directly from the battery to the starter solenoid which is attached to the starter motor make sure there is 12V at the starter solenoid. There is also a Bl/W wire that sends a signal to the starter solenoid when the key is turned to activate the starter. If you send voltage to the Bl/W wire the starter should engage and start the car. if not you need a new starter solenoid. If it does start make sure you check the #14 fuse it is a 10A fuse under the dash on the left hand side in the little white box with only three fuses the other two are 15A. If the fuse is good and 12V is there when you turn the switch you need to check the wire. If you do not have 12V check the 65amp metal plate fuse under the hood on the passenger side. This fuse provides 12V to the ignition switch and is the white wire going to the switch. If this fuse is good you will have to pull the ignition switch and make sure the white wire have 12V if it does then you need a new ignition switch. Otherwise the wire is broke and you need to find the break. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: 1986 honda prelude heater

Radiator flushes can cause more problems than fix sometimes. Before you go removing the dash first replace the thermostat if you follow the lower radiator hose to the engine this is the thermostat housing.Remove the three 10mm bolts and the housing should come apart. Make sure you put the thermostat in the right way and not upside down. The larger end with the spring goes in first toward the engine and the little vent should be on top. When you fill it back up with a 60/40 mixture of coolant make sure you open the bleed hole on the thermostat housing to get out any air and tighten when coolant comes out with no air bubbles. Start the car and hopefully the heat is better. If not the heater core is the two coolant hoses on the firewall remove both hoses and check the flow with a water hose put the hose to both sides to get out any debris. If the flow is slow and does not improve you will have to pull out the heater core which means removing most of the lower dash pulling out the evaporator if you have A/C. Make sure you get a manual. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: I want to start a 1986 honda prelude that has been

Change the oil, make sure you put a good battery in it, the gas tank would probably have to be drained then refilled due to solidification, and you also have the issue of things living in the vehicle if it was outside, mice are known to nest in abandoned vehicles, which could have chewed on electrical wires.
Start with the battery, connect it and verify you are getting power, but do not turn over right away, if you have power, I would change the oil and replace the gas and fuel filter and then attempt to start.

There is a dipstick in the transmission down by the radiator. It is yellow in color. You add the fluid thru the dipstick hole. Check the fluid with the engine off.
