SOURCE: need to replace alternator in 2002 kia Rio 5

I just changed my brothers on a 2001 kia rio. You have to go from the bottom. There is a tensioning adjustment on the top you have to undo, as well as a bolt on bottom. It is hard to get it out because there is not a lot of room, i remember it hitting either a p/s line or the rack, and being frustrated. I used a floor jack and block of wood under the engine and jacked it up to reposition it. It gave me enough room to get it out. Remove the bottom bolt and disconnect the wiring from it and it should drop out with some effort. Getting it back in was harder. Once you get it back into position connect the wiring before you bolt it up all the way, put the lower bolt in, put the belt on, then back to the adjustment on top. Make sure everything is tight and you should be done.

SOURCE: 2003 kia rio- water pumps

If it is your first time having the timing belt changed, chances are the water pump is still in good enough shape to hold out until you are due for your next belt change. No sense throwing away money prematurely...

My KIA Rio 2003 alternator driving belt broke and got lost at night. I have no identification details for it. I want to buy an new replacement locally may I have the part number? Does 4PK865 WORK FOR ME?

Go to AutoZone or Napa Auto Parts with the Make Model Year of your car and the ENGINE size. They will ask you with our without AC? With or without Power Steering? Standard or Automatic transmission? Then they will tell you exactly what belt Alternator you need. Everything is computerized and they will even show you the on screen picture if you ask.

This is what I can gather about your belt:

Power steering and air-conditioning;
35.5 in. effective L, 0.54 in. top W, 4 ribs;

Water pump and alternator there is 1 size and appears to be a "Micro V-belt vs a serpentine belt. i.e 2003 Kia Rio, sub models: RX-V, Base and Cinco

How do you replace the alternator belt on a 2003 Kia Rio? The belt just broke and the only idiot light that's lit is the battery light, so it probaly isn't the serpentine belt.

undo the alternator bolts and swing it inwards towards the block,replace the belt and lever the alt away from the block to tension it (1/2"play on longest stretch between pulleys) use ring spanners.(wrenches)

Remove alternator on kia rio 2002

its not easy i wont lie to u i have a 2002 kia rio and ive removed the alternator 6 times the real trick is to take ur front passenger tire off and jack the car up high enough to have some wiggle room underneath. when u disconnect everything, youll want to face the alternator pretty much upside down and u just have to wiggle it out past your drive shaft and control arm

Need to replace the alternator. bought the alternator but now cannot figure out how to get the old one out?? do you have to remove the motor or does it come out from underneath??

remove the belt first to gain access to the altenator. the tensioner will have to be moved back to releive pressure off the belt to remove it first. use a 3/8 ratchet to move the tensioner back

2004 Kia Rio Timing Belt

Typically timing belts need to be replaced every 60,000 miles, in order to prevent them from breaking or loosing teeth and leaving you stranded, or possibly damaging the engine. I doubt the timing belt is causing your engine vibration issue. I would suspect that a good tune up would take care of that problem.
