SOURCE: leaking valve covers, 2000 jaguar vanden plas supercharged

no there is'nt enough pressure underneath to make it leak try tighting up the valve cover bolts or just getting a new gasket about a $6.00 to $10.00 dollar fix depending on where you go

SOURCE: Dashboard Instrument cluster does not work.

there are 2 large terminal plugs with the wiring for all the instruments that are plugged into the back of that panel. make sure they are snug and in place. You reach in and under but it may easier to "simply" remove the cluster. 4 screws hold it in place accessible form underneath and with a long phillips screwdriver and lighting.

1996 jaguar Vanden Plas

febddcc0-9eec-4f8c-a308-82ab8df3a80e.jpgCould be anything or everything here ,i have the same vehicle which is my sunday car as i cannot afford the price of fuel for it compared to my diesel escort. Now i suspect the engine breather but i would need my head under the bonnet to find the exact problem as it couyld be the small vacumn pipe to the fuel shut off valve on the fuel rail ,a split or perished breather pipe .Anything in fact along these lines is what i would look at first .Before i would start looking at things like fuel pump pressure and worrying about computer diagnostics.Should start in neutral though as mine does so it may need the inhibitor switch looking at later but not urgent .Mine is nice to drive but as it came from scotland it is well corroded underneath which is what i have been doing this sunday morning and thats spraying the underneath with a evil mix of underseal, diesel and clean engine oil all mixed up ,i kinow it takes a while to dry out but ? the rust absorbs the oil mix from the paint and turns back into metal -and no i dont understand this action but i know it works

I'm Changing the boot on steering rack ,Do the whole steering rack comes down ,or can I just change boot

Just remove the track rod end and lock nut, counting the turns on removal, otherwise you will alter the tracking,
Remove and renew gator and refit track rod end with new locking nut.
It is possible an oil leak from the rack seal has been primary cause of gator failure? have you noticed power steering fluid loss?
If so you require an exchange S/rack.
Good Luck!
Let me know your feedback.

What is the code p1388 on the 2002 jaguar v8

P 1388--Variable Cam Timing Over- (Bank 2)

VCT solenoid valve stuck open
Camshaft advance mechanism binding
Need Correct Oil Filter

I will speculate here & say you don\'t run 5W-20 full
syn oil & don\'t change every 4,000 miles since motor
was new

Now you have oil flow issues with the solenoid or failed
cam actuators

Can a bad EVAP Solenoid/valve prevent starting?

It can as it's part of the emissions system. If you can clear the code, then try starting.

Hope this helps.

Have a 2001 jaguar vanden plas. It won't start. It cranks fine battery is good but it won't turn over. I have been told could be fuel filter and or fuel pump. If you agree how do i change

To confirm that is is the fuel pump at issue here get a can of spray starting fluid and next time it won't fire up spray it into the air intake hose of the engine while someone cranks the engine over, if it lights right off then the pump may be the problem. A clogged fuel filter may cause loss of power but seldom if ever a no start.

Toyota 1994 oil engine , when the engine cold oil pressure execellent whenever it gets hot oil pressure drops rapidly

A symptom of a engine that is almost 20 years old perhaps 200k+ miles. Mine does the same thing. I don't know how accurate the dash gauge is ... but I haven't been worrying about it. I run 10w-30 year round. I've had the truck over 8 years and 120k miles ... still runs great and the oil pressure gauge works as you describe since I bought it. Unless you are sure you have serious bearing problems or whatever I'd just drive it.

I got an 89 vandon plas that will start sometimes and run about a min then its like you just turn it off and it takes a while to get it to do it agen iv checked the fuel filter and the pressure what else...

The fuel pump is weak. If you listen close enough you can hear the pump working real hard, it will heat up and quit. It may start up again but will eventually fail. Experience speaking.

Xj8 instrument lights not on when headlights on

Make sure the dash lights aren't turned down first of all. I know that sounds basic, but I've seen it happen before. Believe the twist is near the knob to adjust the steering wheel which is lower steering column left hand side. Otherwise, I would check fuses to be sure. finally, the last thing I would do it pull the gauge cluster and check connections as well as bulbs.
