SOURCE: power driver's seat
Power seat movement is controlled by numerous small motors underneath the seat.
Front and back movement is often actuated through a motor on one side that connect to a rod (with some type of gear on the end of it) that runs to the other side. This rod can get out of position, or possibly something can go wrong in the gear.
You'll likely have to remove the seat to diagnose the problem.

It isn't wired wrong. Mine does the exact same thing, but it didn't used to be backwards and the wiring has never been changed.

we have the same problem with our 96 lincoln town car. the driver's seat will go up or down and will tilt but will not go forward or backwards. we took it to a body shop guy and he couldn't figure it out either. said he tested everything and all of it is getting power and he checked to see if anything was blocking it or jamming it but didn't find anything
Same problem on a 1994 Town Car. Up/Down, Tilt all ok. No forward and Back. Stuck all the way back now. Hear relay/motor click when trying to move back but not forward.
all positions work except forward & backward
