The EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module) is mounted to the BPMV (Brake Pressure Modulator Valve) located at the left front (lower) engine compartment.

EBCM Removal & Installation Procedure

  1. Remove the Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV). Refer to the Hydraulic Control Unit (BPMV) procedure in this section.
  2. Remove the 4 T-25 Torx® bolts (1) from the EBCM (2). (click image for zoom)

  3. Disconnect the 2-way ABS pump motor connector.
WARNING Do not use a tool to pry the EBCM or the BPMV. Excessive force will damage the EBCM.
  4. Remove the EBCM (2) from the BPMV (5). Removal may require a light amount of force.
    1. Do not reuse the EBCM mounting bolts. Always install new bolts.
  5. Clean the EBCM to BPMV mounting surfaces with a clean cloth.
To install:

WARNING Do not use RTV or any other type of sealant on the EBCM gasket or mating surfaces.
  1. Install EBCM (2) onto BPMV (5).
  2. Install the 4 EBCM bolts (1).
    1. Tighten the 4 bolts to 39 inch lbs. (5 Nm) in an X-pattern.
  3. Connect the 2-way ABS pump motor connector to the EBCM.
  4. Revise the tire calibration using the Scan Tool Tire Size Calibration function.
  5. Use the scan tool to check and clear DTC memory.

Hope this helps.

2001 gmc safari cargo van, there are two large bolts located just inside the rear doors on floor aproxx 12" from rear doors they are large torx head 1-1/2" long bolts. What are they for???

My guess would be to hold the van body to the frame. I've noticed the manufacturers like using Torx and other patterns that many homeowners don't have in their toolbox.....I'm guessing for safety and litigation reasons.

Where are the ground wires for the ecbm gmc safari 2005

Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) C0265 is a POWER circuit code for the EBCM/Pump Motor Relay, not a ground code. This DTC sets when the voltage (B+) is too low at the EBCM when the solenoids and pump motor are commanded OFF. The voltage is supposed to be pulled low when the circuit is commanded ON. A ground problem with the EBCM is most likely to cause a failure of the EBCM to communicate with a scan tool. However, it doesn't hurt anything to check the ground. The main ground for the EBCM (G106) is located on the left rear of the engine near the knock sensor.

My 2003 gmc safari cargo van has been trying to overheat when I turn ac on what could it be?

If your gmc safari cargo van overheats when the ac is on, your radiator and cooling system may be clogged and not working at peak efficiency.

Make sure your radiator cooling fan goes on as soon as you turn the a/c on.

How do I get access to the heating system on a 2005 gmc safari van. The fan is not blowing on all speeds and I think I need to change the switch.

Like most GMC Vans, remove the dashboard, then the heat core cover....

Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
