If the abs light comes on than the fuses are good. If the abs light did not come on when you turned the key on than I would be suspicious of a fuse or relay failure. The first thing you need to do is have the abs module scanned for codes. You local auto parts store may do this for you for free otherwise you can either spend a couple hundred dollars on an abs scan tool or pay for an abs diagnostic charge at your local auto shop. Once you know what code or codes are causing the light to come on you will have a much better idea opt what the problem is. To things that will help you out. 1. If the abs light comes on when you start the car and then goes out until your start to drive than it is likely you have a speed sensor that is going bad, or possible a wheel bearing that is getting sloppy and causing excessive air gap. 2. If the light comes on and never goes out than the abs system is failing it's self test. The first thing I would do is ohm check all four wheel speed sensors (1998 might only have three, one on each front wheel and one in the rear differential). If one is open or low on resistance than it is bad. Hope that helps.

Need to know how to replace the brake switch on a 2005 mercury grand marquis ls

im afraid the owners manual wouldn't be much help to you other than confirm what fuse is for brakes , no what u need is service manual , more to the point a wire diagram , but the switch you refer too is there clung right to the steel arm that comes down to your brake pedal , its got three wires to it and a plug to disconnect it , Me id use a five dollar auto test light avail from any auto parts store to go thru circuit one device at a time , fuse, switch, lights etc.

What would make the traction service light come on ? also abs light?

Fault in the ABS Braking System, like a bad
wheel speed sensor or other items

Never unplug things, that only clears stored data
you need to find the system with the faults

Fused are never a problem

If a fuse ever blows you don't replace it,
you go to wiring diagrams to find the most
likely cause of an overloaded circuit

1998 Mercury Mystique heater blower motor doesn't work. Have replaced everything and checked both fuses (both good). What next?

Don't know how the ABS light would be related to the blower motor, you said you checked everything - did you check the blower motor circuit for power and ground with a meter or a test light ?
Is the resistor getting power from the relay ?

Alternator fuse

The fuse for the alternator is located in the fuse panel under the hood of the vehicle in the engine compartment. Below is a diagram of the fuse layout. The fuse for the alternator input will be the fuse in the number 16 position and should be a 10 amp fuse (red). This should be in your owners manual if you have one. If you don't have an owners manual and would like a copy, you can email me at [email protected] with your make, model and year and I will be happy to email you a copy. Don't worry, there is no cost for it. I hope this helps and good luck.

1993 Mercury Tracer backup lights won't light even after replacement. Must be a fuse. But fuse box deoesn't have a label for the backup lights. Must be connected to another fuse. No owner manual....

Go to autozone.com and register for free. Registration will give you access to manuals for your car, one of which will have a diagram of the fuse panel with an explanation of each fuse.

98 merc myst / no power on fuse 37 / new blower motor resistor / could it be switch

There is a main fuse for that fuse. Is his ABS light on? This fuse control both the ABS and the blower motor. It is located in the power distribution bow located under the hood of the vehicle in the engine compartment on the drivers side. Below is a diagram of the fuse layout. The fuse i am talking about is the one marked number "3". Now that is one of the big fuses so if it is blown or if you have to take it out to check it I would suggest disconnecting the battery before you do it. It should be a 60 amp fuse. I hope this helps and good luck.
