I have the original book it says anytime the battery is disconnected it will do the lock up and read SAF on the display when this happens you cant use it again untill you unlock it... to unlock it turn the radio on the word safe will be displayed first press the am/fm button and then press the scan button and hold them down simultaneously until "1000" appears in the frequuency display release the buttons DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE CONTINUE HOLDINT THE BUTTONS DOWN OR PRESS THEM ONCE AGAIN THIS WILL CAUSE THE RADIO TO TAKE THE NUMBER "1000" AS THE CODE NUMBER. using the first four radio station buttons enter the code number found on your radio card (the codes you have) use button 1 to set the first digit of the code button 2 to set the second digit etc. the first digit of a four digit code must be "1" if your code number has three digits the first digit on the display must be set blank. Once the code is shown on the display press and hold the am/fm button and scan button simultaneously until the work safe appears in the frequency display release the buttons a radio station frequency will automatically be displayed ... MAKE SURE YOU PUT IN THE RIGHT NUMBER OR YOU WILL LOCK UP THE RADIO AGAIN AFTER 2 TRYS AND WILL HAVE TO WAIT AN HOUR BEFORE YOU CAN RETRY IT. IF YOU LOOSE THE CARD WITH THE NUMBER SEE YOUR AUDI DEALER

What is the factory car stereo code for 2001 Audi Allroad?

The RADIO CODE is the security number from device car; generally this is located in the stocker label in back side radio or in the last page of the owners manual. If you dont find it, need call to the delaer and with the VIN and Serial number they can send it to you (sometimes you need to pay for this service).

Hope help.

2001 Audi A6 2.7t , my audi symphony radio locked out

You will need the code to get it working. You may need Audi for this. Never disconnect the battery, or the alarm with trip on. Since it is frozen, I would try and remove the fuse, and reinstall it to reset the stereo. Then try the code.
I got lucky in my 2001 VW passat, when the stereo code was needed, but then the next day it started working by itself.

I NEED THE CODE FOR MY RADIO ford mondao SRG

hi, if the code your after is for the original radio fitted by ford then the only place you can get this from is your nearest main dealers years ago you use to be able to ring up and they would give it you over the phone but they stopped this as they found out criminals were stealing the stereo's and selling themon after phoning up and getting the unlock code.

So on any car made after about 1990 the only way of getting the code is to take the car and owners documents to your nearest main dealer and they wil then issue you with the code, they dont charge for this but it is worth writing the code down for future reference.

When it was brought new their would have been a little piece of card issued the same size as a credit card with this security code written on it so have a look inside the owners handbook and see if their is either this card or the code written down inside the back of the book as this is the most likely place for it to be written.

Im sorry their is no easy fix for this and it does mean a trip to the main dealers but it does stop theives stealing your stereo as they are useless to them now due to the fact they cant get the code unless they have the owners documents.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

Need an Audi radio code for my 2003 A6. Can you help?

if you dont have it you will need to call the dealer.
Or remove the stereo and get the make and model and search online.
Its going to cost if the dealer won't give it to you for free

How do I reset the radio in an Audi tt 2004? The indicator light says "SAFE"

Hi

The radio is in safe mode and requires the security code to reactivate it. First check through your service documentation for a credit card sized card that Audi print the code on.

If this is missing the only other way to retrieve the code is

1) Remove the stereo from the dash and retrieve the serial number stamped on the back of the stereo.

2) Contact your Audi dealer with both the serial number and the chassis (VIN no) of your car. You will find the VIN no on your registration document.

3) If you do it this way and have retrieved both of these numbers yourself your Audi dealer will run the numbers and give you the code free of charge.

Hint: Some dealers will attempt to charge for this service but they are not authorized to so. On the original safe code card from Audi it specifically states that if you lose the code your Audi dealer will supply this free of charge. Please ensure to quote this information to the dealer if they attempt to make any service charge.

Hope this helps. Please do rate my answer and thanks for using FixYa.

Saving the code

Did you or someone put the stereo in?Or is it the original factory radio? If it is a new installation you missed a wire that is 12volts all the time weather the car is on or off that holds the memory.

I cant get stereo out of safe mode

this is a security feature that Audi does on their OEM stereos. you have to go to the dealer and ask them to get you the security code to unlock it. check if you still have your original factory manual, as it should be listed in there.
