There jolt and cutting while driving - 1995 Chevrolet Lumina

Diodes bad in alternator suggest reman unit.

check that you are not in 4 wheel drive H and on hard stand ( hard surface ) The jolt may be from drive train torque wind up releasing on the stop motion . wheel drive should only be used on loose surfaces --- mud--gravel---snow --ice or any surface that will allow the tyres to unwind the torque build up.by slipping

front end issues ..out of round tires , out of balance, drive shafts going bad, put up on a lift where the wheels dangle in mid air(like a tire shop) and check under the front end for anything loose or broken..

most auto parts stores will scan the computer for free to tell you what is causing the check engine light.
They will give you a code. (eg. P0304 or P1402, etc)
You can then google that "P code" and you will have the cause of the problem.
Sounds like a throttle position sensor to me, but without the code, I can't say for sure.

Is there a "clunk" noise that goes along with the "jolt" ?
It is either a loose or worn, mount, or you may have a drive train problem.

dear friend-what i can gather from you explenationis that the feul pump is on it"s way out.have that tested and come back with the fault codes if that is not the problem.

Try replacing the fuel filter. Sounds like that's the fix. Good Luck, Jim

thats very normal. its because the very little amount of gas in your tank is sliding around the whole time while your driving,,,,,,therefore your gas isn't being picked up by the fuel pump properly.

Check your air intake tube for any cracks. The jolting could be caused by improper air flow.

I take it this is an automatic?
Try disconnecting the negative terminal to the battery for 10 mins. Then connect it and idle the car for 10 mins, then drive it LIGHTLY for another 10 or so.
Disconnecting the negative terminal will cut power to the ECU and it will have to relearn values. Many tuners, when they install mods such as intake, exhaust, headers, etc get their cars ECU to relearn the fuel trims, etc.
