I need to replace the passenger side mirror (only, not the whole assembly) on a 2005 Expedition. It is not heated nor is does it have the turn signal arrow in it. It is controlled electrically.

Short to ground somewhere in the circuit

remove panel opposite mirror (just pulls off)you will see three nuts that hold on mirror assemble

you can not replace just the glass. you need to replace the whole mirror. sorry

It's not that hard to replace the passenger side mirror. You will be able to do it yourself. I will tell you how. Remove the screw holding the molding to the base of the mirror and remove the molding. Remove the screws and detach the mirror. (if it is electric mirror just unplug the electrical connector. Installation is the reverse of removal. Hope this will help you.

You can usually just replace the mirror, any commercial auto-glass store has the glass you need. sometimes it is necessary to replace the mirror and its backing (a plastic frame which snaps into the adjustable motor) you don't need to replace the whole mirror unless the housing is broken.

Ok Then what will need to be done is that the assembly will need to come out. The backing is held by some pins or screws and will need to be removed. Now was backing is installed the glass can be installed afterwards as to avoid breaking mirror during installation.

Your going to have to remove the inside door panel to get to the three bolts that hold the out side mirror assembly. Once you have the door panel off you'll see the three bolts that hold the mirror assembly, just un-bolt and un-clip the wire harness to the electric/heated mirror. To install the new mirror assembly, just do everything in reveres. Go to Auto Zone and by extra door panel clips, there is a good chance of breaking some of the retainer clips and Auto Zone will have the step by step instructions to replacing the mirror assembly and the removal to the door panel. Open the door. Look for a cheap piece of plastic near where the mirror is located. Carefully pry the plastic off. There are 3 bolts. There is a wire harness connector. Unbolt the mirror and unclip the harness. Installation is reverse of removal. Easy job.

Both above answers are not right... I just replaced the Pass side power mirror assembly on my 97 Expedition. No heat, no directional.
The inside door panel must come off.
1. pry off interior triangular plastic trim piece inside of door at mirror area. Remove door panel screw at this area.
2. Pry off power window switch panel and remove door panel screw at this area.
3.Remove interior door light cover and remove screw at this area.
4. Remove plastic cover at door handle.
5. The interior door panel can now be lifted up to release it from it's fasteners.
6. Disconnect light and push power window switch assembly through the door panel and it can be set aside.
7. Disconnect mirror power at coupler.
8 Loosen three mirror mounting screws with 7/16 socket. DO NOT unscrew completely.. the will fall down the door cavity. Use a round magnet on holder to remove the screws completely.
9.Thread electrical connection into door panel and install mirror.
10. Smile when mirror works and drink a beer!
