Big tire places, Costco, BJs, Sears etc do not stock tires in the original equipment size of P185/60 r15. They stock P185/65, and P195/60 which seem very close. But Costco (at least) refuses to mount any other size tire not shown in the listing as the original stock size. Tires can be ordered, with a week to 10 days wait, which is OK if you're planning ahead, but if when you have a puncture as my wife has, or want to take advantage of sales it is not good. Why can't I buy tires of a close, but available, size say P195/60r15 and use them just as well? The difference is just a few millimeters.

What is the original size tire and rim that came in the 1997 Nissan 200sx

The tire size depends on which of the three models you have. The base model came with P175/70R13, the SE model came with P175/65R14, and the SE-R came with P195/55R15. Check the sticker on the drivers side door jamb and/or owners manual.

I just bought a 2004 chevy Malibu. It came with P195/65R15 tires. It says on the inside door panel that it should have P205/65R15 size tires. What's the difference and will I still get the average...

The smaller P195 will turn the motor faster & get less mpg

The difference is in the outside diameter of the tire

Go to tire rack or any tire site & learn about tires

The standard size tire for a 2001 Jetta is 195/65/15 but could a 205/65/15 tire be used?

I would use the proper sized tire for the 2001 Jetta of p195/65R15 and not the p205/65R15 as the larger size might rub against the wheel wells.

In general, reputable tire retailers will not go up or down more than one size step on any particular axle and will often recommend the original tire size stamped on the inside of the door, or the original tire size recommended for your year, make, and model vehicle which can change from year to year.

Type R s60 tires rub when turned left or right. Very short turning radius. Tires seem to be stock. What's the deal? 2004... What size tire and wheel should be on there so it doesn't rub

That was a very common problem in the S60 R cars. The only solution is to put the original equipment tires back on. I mean the same manufacturer and design. I believe they were pirelli tires (spelling sorry) as to the design, PZero's I think
