P0103 is maf sensor A high input. ( manifold air flow ).

  • Verify that the Mass Air Flow Sensor wiring is connected properly and that there are no broken / frayed wires.
  • Inspect for any air leaks near the MAF sensor.
  • Take the MAF out and clean it using a spray cleaner such as brake cleaner or electrical contact cleaner. Be gentle with the sensor.
  • Check the voltage of the MAF sensor (refer to a repair manual for vehicle specific information)
  • Replace the MAF sensor. you can buy maf sensor cleaner at any auto parts store. follow directions on back of maf sensor cleaner. clean sensor first this may solve problem. good- luck!! do not touch inside of sensor with the straw from the can or anything else, just spray it and let dry, then put back on car.

2003 Ford Taurus with code P0316 only

Code 316 means the engine computer has detected a miss-fire on startup. You normally get a code for the cylinder causing the problem.
If the spark plugs are original, I would start with checking them for signs of damage or excessive wear.

I have a 2003 gmc I just put a tranmission in and know my engine light is blinking on and off and runing ruffe is it bad to drive and want is the promblim with it doing that

When the engine light blinks it means there is a catalytic converter damaging event happening ! engine misfiring , yes it is bad to drive it , could cause the catalytic converter to have a melt down . You don't want to have to pay a few hundred to a thousand dollars for a new one . There is a code stored in the engine computer telling you what cylinder or cylinders are misfiring ! could be a few things depending on the engine in yours as they can have a few different ones. Coil's , plugs an or plug wires , fuel injectors , fuel pressure regulator , vacuum leaks , are just too name a few ! You best bet is take to the repair shop right away !

I have engine codes p103 and p117, the dealer wanted to replace the mass air flow sensor and evap purge valve for $900.00. Is this something a DIY can do? and if so, any advice, instructions would be...

P103 Mass or Volume Air flow Circuit High Input P107 Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit Low Input
Maybe the P103 code trigger the other one, you could try cleaning the MAF sensor. Then put the scanner and erase the codes.
Another trick that sometimes work is to cover half of the tube just bebore the maff with duct tape, that will make the MAF to percieve less flow making the car to work a little better.
