SOURCE: 1995 Buick Riviera SC: traction and the security light

traction switch is located next to drivers left knee on bottom of dash....you should be able to turn off the traction light there by just turning on the traction control.....the security light is telling you that there is a problem with your security system....could just need a new key with a new computer chip....make sure the key is clean and dry when using so it can read the chip....the security light comes on whenever your start the car and stays on for approximatley 2 minutes and then should go out....it is just a reminder....try this and see if it works....lock the door using the power switch on door.....close door and see if the security light comes on....watch and it should go out after about 2 minutes...if it does then your alarm is activated and working....to disarm you need to unlock the driver door with the key...anything else will set the alarm off and the lights will start flashing and the horn honking...after you set the alarm off you will always have to use the key to unlock the drivers door to turn off the alarm and reset the security system.

SOURCE: How do I disassemble the dash and steering column

Here is what I learned without a manual. (You may find that you have to use the tilt mechanism to move the steering wheel up and down in the process to gain access to fasteners)
1. Remove plastic pins on underside of the upper dashboard. About 7 of these that can be pried out with a large flat screwdriver. Careful to catch them all and keep both pieces.
2. Remove the lower dashboard trim panel and set aside.
3. Using a small Torx head driver remove all the torx fasteners along the upper instrument panel.
4. Remove the side panel cover on the driver's side (the cover that the fusebox cover pops into). This side cover is held in place at 3 slots, and needs slid down slightly as you remove it.
5. Unscrew the phillips head screw that you see connecting to the instrument panel face.
6. Go to the passenger side and repeat steps 4 and 5.
DO NOT TRY TO REMOVE THE MAIN DASH PANEL YET
7. On the drivers side, gently pull the main dash panel out a little ways and disconnect the plug to the light switch.
As I remember the main dash fascia panel is ready to be removed now. The A/C vents will come out with it. Make sure all the fasteners are removed from the top. Gently pry out the bottom, and then slide it down and remove it. Hint: Place the steering wheel in the fully tilted down position. Hint 2: You can lift up on the upper dashboard pad to assist in clearing all the top mounting tabs.
7. Using a 10 mm socket or torx, depending on your car, remove the bolts that hold the lower dash panel on the driver's side(These bolts are above your shins when seated in the driver's seat.)
8. Using a 10 mm socket remove the bolts that hold the top two corners of the lower dash panel (One on each side).
9. Unplug the traction control switch.
Disconnect the flexible tubing on the right side (just pull it off the connector) and disconnect the wiring plug that is down a few inches parallel to the flexible tubing. An option here is to pop the whole vent/grille out and leave the tubing and wiring intact.
10. Now you can remove the steering column surround. You need a torx socket, very small to do this...Sorry don't know the size but it was the smalles one in my kit. All fasteners are installed from the underside.
11. Start with the one you can't easily see. It is in the dark recesses by the tilt column lever.
12. Remove the other torx fasteners by accessing them through the holes. If you're socket is too thick or short you will not be able to remove the one in the middle, closes to the dashboard. Your choice, buy a new socket or just break the plastic off around that one.
13. You now have access to the lock cylinder and ignition switch. You will need an even smaller torx head to remove the ignition switch. The lock sylinder is removed by pressing in on the spring loaded release about 2 inches from the keyhole, on the side closest to the dashboard. The key should be in the run position during assembly and disassembly.
14. You can remove the steering wheel for easier access, but you do not have to do so to work on some of the components in the column.

Hope I didn't miss too many steps.

Where is the high pressure hose connected on the power steering pump of a 1995 buick riviera 3.8 supercharged

If it’s the high pressure side then it will have metal connections on both ends. The rubber hose is the low pressure side. Follow the hose with the metal ends and you’ll find your answer

1995 Buick Riviera ignition locks up and I can't get it unlocked for up to an hour of trying to move the steering wheel back & forth like the book says. Does this mean I need a new ignition switch? Someone...

Probably not the actual switch. The switch is located at the base of the steering column. The key cylinder can wear and not function properly, which also controls the release of the steering wheel.

How do you replace the water pump on a 1995 buick riviera

Place Jack under engine with wood to hold it up. Remove uper engine mount(leave loose in engine compartment. Loosen pulley bolts. Remove belts. Remove alternator bolts and lift out of the way for easy access to power steering bolts. Remove 2 power steering bolts using access holes in pulley. You should be able to accessall of the water pump bolts now by moving things out of the way as you go. The two larger bolts toward the radiator can be accessed through the two holes in the motor mount ( you will need a short socket on a 1/4" drive rachet). You should be able to get the pump off now. Installation is much easier than removal.

Do the interior chimes and headlights turn on when you turn the key in the ignition???? We have a 95 Riv that gave us the same problem. Occassionally we have to put the key in the ignition, turn it on, move the steering column up and down (sometimes roughly) until the chimes etc. come on (some security thing) then the car will start.
