1994 Sierra C/K 1500. Ignition gets stuck in on, and wont turn to another position. Engine runs, but many accessories do not work, and can't shift gears. Pushing and playing with the key can eventually get it to work again. It will work fine, and then do it again at some random time interval. It has also done it with two different keys. Is it the ignition switch, or the lock cyclinder maybe?

The lock cylinder is the most likely suspect and is in stock at your favorite local auto parts store. To change it, the steering wheel has to come off first. The lock cylinder is held in place by one screw. If there are more problems, you will see them when the steering wheel comes off.

SOURCE: brake lights wont turn on.1994 gmc sierra.

This may sound too simple, but first verify that you are getting voltage to the light socket. Use meter on d.c. If you are getting voltage, and your bulb is good, it could be a bad ground. Don't overlook the brake light system goes through the directional signal in the steering column.

SOURCE: Ignition switch

The Switch is bolted about half way down the steering column on the top I believe. You will have to remove the plastic cover beneath the steering wheel to get to it. Unplug wiring connector from the switch and remove two bolts holding it to the steering column there is a long rod coming from the cylinder lock that hooks into switch, it should come right out after bolts are removed. It will help if you are a contortionist and have very small fingers :)

My key is stuck in the ignition.

Your car has several different ignition positions. They each offer slightly different functionality.
Off: In this position, the engine is off, and so are your electronic accessories (unless the delay has not expired yet). You can still turn on lights (headlights, interior lights, etc.).
ACC: This is the accessory position. Turn the key to ACC if you want to listen to the radio, play a CD or use other accessories without cranking the engine.
On: In this position, all of the electronics should come on. This is also the position that the key will return to after cranking the engine.
Start: Turn the key to this position to crank the engine. Let go of the key when the engine is running and the key will return to the on position.

I use to own a car that had an ignition that was ACC - OFF - ON - START.

Try turning your ignition one position clockwise and see if the radio turns off and the key comes out.

Truck wont start, can u put a mec. fuel pump on it

unless it isn't the fuel pump and it is ignition related. when you turn the key to the engine run position b4 starting you should get a hum sound for 2 seconds if you here that then the pump is still good but the way things are designed now days you will have a real challenge to install an external fuel pump

Ignition key won't turn

Try turning the key while jerking the wheel left and right and depressing the brake pedal. If that won't work try another key.

How to reset change oil sign

I believe you turn the ignition to the on position (engine not running)and fully depress the gas pedal to the floor 5 times within 10 seconds. Sometimes you have to start the procedure over if it doesn't work the first time. Make sure you smoothly press the pedal all the way down and come all the way up each time. You should then hear a audible ding letting you know it reset.

I have an 1994 GMC sierra 1500 4x4 and it has a lever to shift it into 4x4 hi or lo or 2 hi. I can shift it into any position but my front tires do not turn only the back ones! what could be the problem??...

the front axel control solinoid is not working, it's on the right front side of the front axel, it most likely the cause [ commom problem]. it's easy enough to replace, it just unscrews from houseing. good luck.

I have a 1994 GMC Sierra 1500 and the horn doesn't work, i tried the cab fuse bow but no fuse there, where would the fuse be for the horn if there is one?

engine compartment relay box. There is also a horn relay there.

Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r6022358-relay_check to check the relay and socket. These are generic instructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me with model, year and engine info.
