Hi. I have a 1990 Buick 3800 with serious oil sludge in the antifreeze. I checked the level in the tranny thinking that maybe the cooler for the transmission was leaking into the rad - but the level in the transmission was full and clean. I pressure checked the rad with a pressure checker, and as the engine was running, the gauge gradually rose into the danger zone. I shut the vehicle off: the gauge slowly decreased to almost nothing within 5 minutes. Does this sound like a head gasket problem: if so - how would the oil get into the antifreeze? (I didn't think that motor had an oil passage running through the block and up into the heads). The engine oil has gone down a little - but the oil in the pan is clean... no water or antifreeze in the oil. HELP! Very confused.

I would like to have a bit more info on this if possible..
is it a hard do-it-yourself job?
is it expensive to have done?
can someone suggest a good site for the needed info on pinpointing my problem
