The check engine light for my 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan is on. The engine is a 3.8 V6 engine. The error code that it is displaying is P0406 or EGR issue. It is my understanding when you have an issue with...

I would clear the code and see if it returns. If the EGR valve is stuck open, it would make it buck or shutter. If the EGR valve is not functioning right, or clogged up, it will effect proformance. I would replace the EGR valve. I read that it's a common problem.

Off the top of my head I beleieve these are EGR codes, the EGR valve is located on the top front left side of the engine, you may need a valve and solenoid.

3.3 engines has the egr valve with transducer.you have to replace the whole unit. code p0406 what its trying to tell you your egr valve circuit is short to ground.it has failed .

05 Gnd Caravan 3.3L - code: P0406

Exhaust gas recirculation sensor A (circuit high)
Obviously the sensor or connection is faulty. I'd try cleaning connection with contact cleaner, add some di-electric grease/lube to the connection, check all vacuum lines if applicable & have code erased, and try it.

The code p0406 is for the EGR valve , reading high over spec. May be carbon in the valve the needs to be cleaned out, or the valve itself.
