I assume you mean in the ignition. As your trying to unlock the key by turning it, attempt to turn the steering wheel back and forth. Just keep at it and it should unlock the wheel and the ignition.

turn the steering wheel gently side to side as you try and turn the key... sounds like the steering lock has engaged. it can also be a broken ignition switch... not the cyclinder ... the swithc itself

SOURCE: 200 Jeep GC Ignition Stuck in Lock Position

When you parked the vehicle, are your front wheels pointing straight ahead or in a turn position. What has happened to me in the past, is the pressure the tires put on the steering wheel lock when in a turn position is greater than the pressure you can apply with one hand on the key.
What you may want to try is turn the wheel in the same direction, therefore relieving the pressure, and you should be able to turn the key. Hope that works for you. jpp

SOURCE: '95 rodeo cant turn the key, the key is not stuck, the cylinder is

I have had this problem with my Rodeo too for years but I finally found a way to release the key that has worked consistently for the past several times. I experience this event about once every two months. I just put the vehicle in park, engine off, and snap depress and quickly release the button on the gear stick a few times. That always does the trick, usually on the first click, but sometimes it needs a few more snaps. Seems that these SUVs were made with this problem in the mechanism that should have been a recall issue. Hope this works for you too.

Ignition locked, it is stuck in first position A,

Hi my name is adam and it sounds like the ignition is stuck due to the position of the wheel. You need to turn the wheel so that the pressure is relieved from the locking mecognism. Then take the key out and try to turn the key again.
