My advice is to check your Ignition switch. that should be the culprit.Ask for an Electrician to do his checks.

Foel problem

When you smelt fuel, It was flooded. Your best bet would be to replace the spark plugs. Gas will foul them out, just like oil.

2000 honda cvic will not start but if you push on the it will try to start but will not stay running

Do you notice anything unusual with the dash lights when you turn the key on. All the warning lights should illuminate. If they do not but then come on as you start to rotate the key into the start position than you probably have a bad ignition switch.

If you turn the key to the start position and hold it there (only do this for a few seconds) will the car stay running until you let go of the key? Another clue that the ignition switch may be bad.

if you turn the key to the start position and the vehicle starts slowly let the key rotate back to the run position until the starter disengages. If the vehicle continues to run let go of the key. If the vehicle stalls than the ignition switch is definitely bad.

My 97 Honda Civic runs good and up until now, no problems, but when I turn on the key to start it, nothing happens. Have new battery, fully charged, lights on dash do not go off when I turn key to start. ...

Bypass the clutch switch. If the car starts then replace the switch.
If this will not work, then you need to troubleshoot the starter, from the fuse up to solenoid. Might be anything from a bad fuse, bad relay, bad solenoid, corroded starter copper contacts, or a bad starter. Hope this will help.

How to turn off the 'service engine' light, as in oil changes, etc. 2001 Honda Civic.

On my 99 Accord I start with the engine off. Hold down the Select/Reset button near the gauges and turn the ignition switch to the on position (not starting the car). Hold the button until the light goes off.
Hope this works for you.
