1996 TBird 4.6 auto/overdrive trans problem

When shifting from 1st to second engine reves up before shifting to second. overdrive light blinks all the time when driving. sometimes only does this for the first shift & then shifts normal for 10 or so miles. overdrive light still blinking. trans fluid pink & full. have always done regulalor servives. tranny shop pulled trans pan & very clean inside, also replaced both in & output speed sensors. code still says speed senor is problem. also overdrive shifts fine. car has only 103,000 miles. have owned car since 22,000. could it be in the electronics somewhere. if driven long enough engine check light will also come on. HELP. THANKS

I lost tran fluid and had to drive 25 miles home to repair shop. found leak at fractured hose clamp on external cooler. leak repaired and tran refilled. now have slight but noticible slip on 2-3 upshift at light to moderate acceleration. Will a flush and refill help to prevent further deterioration of tran or is it toast?Don

since purchasing 1995 4runner I noticed it lack of power.when I am on interstate, going up hill. I CAN NOT accelerate and always accelerate to lower speed. city driving is OK. unless going up a steep hill and also tranny wants to down shift as I'm loosing power.even with down shift,I can't seem to accelerate.beside this loss of power it run and start fine.no smoke and cat has been check for clog.I would say that trans might slip or engine compression might not in the range. I had replaced the trans and the engine, but the issue still the same problem.I need help to solve this problem and I'm so thanks full who can solve this

when driving the car will give a slight **** once every couple miles or so. doesn't happen at the same time as when it is shifting. like the engine misses for a second. no warning lights are on.

Your transmission fluid contain water, thats why the colour of the fluid changed to pink. And of such the clutch is slipping causing the engine to reve up before shifting - Check transmission cooler.

Is it ok to start off in 2nd gear and manually shift up to 3rd and then overdrive?

You can put the shifter in 2, 3, or overdrive. It will still start in first and shift up to whatever gear you have selected. Try it, you wont damage anythingl

Not shfiting right

eric sounds like you have a electronic trans mission or computer controled trans.is the check engine light on ?

second it sounds like your trans is in limp in mode ( only has second gear).

the hard shifts is not good news.

somtimes when the controller sets a code that forces limp in it has to be cleared.

dis-connect the battery for a few min. then try it again see if it shifts but be easy on it and make sure fluid level is good.

if it it still messes up CHA CHING hehe i'll fix it fer 1000 bucks

Transmission-overdrive not working properly

check the transmission fluid first .
============
overdrive allows the engine to run at lower RPM's , which increases the fuel
economy and also the transmission runs cooler

1996 Corolla Auto Transmission problem

Hi. 2005 Corolla CE. It's normal. They tend to do this when upshifting form 1st to 2nd gear. No timing chain readjustment needed.

96 Corolla. Overdrive not working properly, if not engaging after 45mph constantly. If driving on the city, is normal, but not after 45mph, when the car is trying to engage overdrive in order to save gas and preserve the trans gears. If not able to get help at the dealership, find another one and explain them the situation.

Hard shift and blinking overdrive

The blinking overdrive button is telling u that a serious fault has occurred in the electronic controls or a mechanical fault such as excess slippage is occurring.
