SOUNDS LIKE THE FUSE BURNT OPEN IN THE OVERVOLTAGE PROTECTION RELAY.LOOK FOR A RELAY THAT IS RED ON TOP AND HAS A 10 AMP FUSE PLUGGED IN THE TOP.CAN'T
TELL YOU EXACT LOCATION WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT MODEL YOUR MERCEDES BENZ IS.
In all of the other forums the mechanics talk about replacing or checking the fuses on the OVP which is the Over Voltage Protection Relay located on the right side of the engine compartment behind the battery. That might be a good place to start checking.
Behind your battery, there is a plastic cover. Remove this plastic, you will see the big Unit, ECU and 3 little square relays. one is for Fuel relay, one is for OPV, and one is for AC module. They all have labels. Good luck.
Most likely cause is the 'stop lamp switch'
It is a electric switch located on the brake pedal inside the car, about half way up on the brake pedal.
Pretty cheap too, I think the switch is only like $25 bucks.
2 connectors on the switch and then it turns out.
hope that helps
Fan relay should be in black box near frewall
Lift the hood. Just below the screen, opposite side from battery, you'll see a plastic cover shielding the engine management, abs control box etc. If you search around there after removing the shield/ cover you will find a relay with a fuse plugged into the top of it. This is the pump / system relay.
where is abs relay located on 1996 mercedes e320 w210
