Its not always the relays that goes bad in the first place so please check the sensors first because they take the temperatures of the engine when the sensors are touching engine all the time. Usually sensors go bad before relays do and you hear this all the time.

Usually the relays are connected to the fan wiring or near the fans themselves. Check fuse, relay, and temp sensor.

My cooling fan will not turn on. What could this be? I had someone tell me the water pump, but it does not leak.

Step 1:

This cooling fan circuit has 2 cooling fans and 2 cooling fan relays, both cooling fan relays are located in the BJB (battery junction box, underhood fuse box) there is a low speed or main cooling fan relay in cavity location # K-46 and the high speed relay is location # K-47! Also check the main cooling fan power fuse # 2 in the same BJB, The fuse is a MAXI-FUSE (large one) it is blue in color and is rated at 60amps!

Step 2:

Also check the coolent tempature sensor thats what signals the fan to turn on.

Step 3:

Do the fans turn on when you turn the a/c on. if not may have bad fan motor

Cooling fans won't turn on. I replaced coolent

You need a wiring diagram

That would tell you what you did,as
you know what terminals you jumped

Then you look over the rest of the circuit
to continue

Your lucky you didn't short something out

What makes the cooling fans turn on?

there is a temperature sensor that feeds the ecm(computer)a signal to let it know if the motor requires cooling operation at a predermined temp, which the ecm sends a signal to the cooling fan relay to turn on the cooling fans.when the temp lowers to a predetermined temp the signal is turned off to the ecm and the ecm turns off the signal to the fan relay to turn off the cooling fans.

Replaced fan and relay and temp sensor ran car for 20-25 min temp only hit 220 fan didnt come on. when i turned on ac fan came on and once i turned car off fan didnt turn on is there another problem?

The fan should come on between 217 and 223 degrees. That is normal operating temperature when the computer sends the signal for the fan to operate, Did you bleed the cooling system after you replaced the sensor?

Cooling fans not working at all i have replaced the relays and thermostat. what else could be wrong

Most likely a bad coolent temp sensor. To check unplug coolent temp sensor while vehicle is running and see if fans come on. If fan comes on replace coolent temp sensor.

Cooling fan wount turn on

The temperature sensor instructs the computer to turn on the fan which tells a relay to turn on and it turns on the fan. The fan circuit also has a fuse that may be blown. The relay could be faulty. The coolant sensor may be faulty, but it also tells the computer to display the current engine temperature. If that seems to be working properly, then the sensor is probably ok. You say the fan sounds like it is running--have you looked at the fan motor while the sound occurs? The motor shaft may be turning inside the fan hub! If so, replace the fan blade--not the motor. Check with a wrecking yard for the part.

2000 buick lesabre motor fan

under the relay cover should tell where they are. you could switch one with another next to it to diagnose. then maybe ck cooling fan itself by unplugging and powering it up manually with power and ground to connector. could even be coolant temp switch ocated on engine. is the engine lite on?
