You may be having AC problems but that is not what happened when the Steering locked unless the AC is on the same belt as the Power steering unit. That whining you are hearing when you turn is actually the power steering unit being low on fluid or the power steering pump going out. Based on what you have described my guess is that the unit has gone out and needs to be replaced. As far as the AC compressor is concerned, if the unit is low on Freon it will not engage once it gets too low unless the clutch goes out. When you look at the center of the AC compressor when the engine is running and the AC is off you should see the pulley free spinning and the very center of the pulley won't be spinning, that is the clutch Dis-engaged. When you turn the AC on the Clutch should engage and allow the compressor to work. You will hear it kick in and kick out repeatedly if it is low on Freon. If it is too low it will never kick in because the low pressure switch won't allow it.

So what do you think is the loud sound and do you think that I should turn the car on sounding like that??? Also do think it may be my serpentine belt? That sound is really scary.

My A/C has been fixed, doesn't work. Only works at high speeds. New Compressor did NOT fix it,new Expansion Valve, didn't fix it. Getting Replacement Compressor.

I have known some very good mechanics that weren't so hot when it comes to A/C. It sounds like you have replaced just about everything except the evaporator, I hope that isn't it. It sounds like a restriction somewhere, or maybe that compressor you are replacing again. BUT... The actual charge on the refrigerant is very critical. It is very easy to get it undercharged or overcharged unless someone does it that really knows how to do it correctly. It should be evacuated completely, like on a good suction pump overnight, and then carefully charged while monitoring the temperatures at both ends of the refrigeration cycle.

2006 pontiac torrent whining sound coming from rear when driving

The only thing I would think of is. At the GM dealer ask for a service bulletin for the 2006 Pontiac Torrent if any or look for any changes in body configuration and under the car. Whining noise could be a big puzzle. Need a very good technician in noise problem to find out and very expensive to find if not under warranty.

Hope it helps.

Changing shock on 2000 mercedes s 500

Hey bud, Joey here.... I don't know if you have already fixed your air suspension problem yet, if not I may have the solution for you. I personally own a 2000 S500 myself, and I know how costly this job can! I been there and done that! Trust me!... I can relate to you my friend... I already changed all four of them. However, I didn't know then, what I know now, I didn't think about these sites before, to do exactly what you are doing... your homework! So I just took it to a Mechanic Shop and they not only took too long to find used parts, they wanted to charge me over $1600 each. So, after waiting two weeks I ended up taken it to a dealer and I paid over $4000 for the rear ones only... So, in order to help you avoid committing the same mistakes, I have done my homework for the front ones and I paid only $750 each installed, If you live in NJ/NY area I can get them for you... respond to me and let me know if you still need them. Also tell me if you have 4 Matic drive. PS. If I'm not mistaken dealer charges $1500 plus for the Air--suspension system alone!...

Honda cr- v climate control not working

Don't think your mechanic looked up anything to do with
your model vehicle or cares to

Without diagnostic manuals you can not work on it yourself

I guess a dealer would know more than some repair shops,
most shops would be my first choice, but not the one you went to

Clearing anything is not a fix for anything

If your mechanic told you all sorts of things, then why didn't they
resolve them, they don't know, that's why, most likely have no data base to work on much of anything

If there was low pressure before you bought it, why is it okey now,
but not work properly, sounds like nonsense to me.

NEED RADIO THEFT CODE

Go to your Honda dealer and they can help you retrieve your code to unlock the radio. I have been there and done that. They didn't charge me anything either.

Good Luck.

We purchased a 2005 Hyundai Tucson recently. It pulls to the right. We took it in for an alignment and the mechanic said he couldn't do it because the rear end was out of alignment and it had to be...

I don't understand why the mechanic told you the alignment had to be done by the dealer (he either noted damage or just didn't know how to do it). Here's a photo of the adjustment bars on the 2005 Tucson. The mechanic simply needs two 22mm wrenches to make the adjustments.

A had a new compressor installed and the air worked for about a week and then it began blowing luke warm air

When the compressor was replaced you should have had anew dryer and expansion valve put in, Most places wont warraty the compressor with out them. Also the shop should have done a vacuum test on the system to make sure you didn't have leaks. This is what it sounds like is happening to yours. Sounds like someone didn't do thier job correctly. Call your mechanic
