No the volvo 240 have a non interference motor so that wouldn't happen unless you have a twin cam (two pulleys at same height and of same size on the motor)

You probably bent a valve when the timing belt broke.

2008 pt cruiser - check engine light came on, within minutes it started to "power down" and and died. Won't start. What could cause this? BTW have changed spark plugs, camshaft sensore, cranks

My PT did that when my timing belt broke. It cost $500.00 to replace it. If it is broken, be ready to have some motor work done. I had to have to values replaced at a cost of $900.00. If your timing belt is not broken then check the alternator and battery. I was riding down the road and my PT shut all the way down and would not start. I had to leave it beside the road. It was my alternator. It gave me no warning.

Did you check the timing belt to see if it broke? It ha a 2.5 and it has belt. Remove timing cover at the front of the engine and have someone crank it while you watch the cam to see if it turns. If it doesn't turn, replace the belt.

Rough idle, dies when trying to give it gas

it'll either be your ignition system (spark plugs, distributor cap, etc) or more likely your fuel system (most likely your fuel pump or your fuel filter)

Car wouldnt allow me to get gas when i was driving

Absolutely the problem. Timing belts should be changed every 60,000 miles or 6 years.

Re-post 1998 buick,century not starting after alot,too much gas?

Sounds like you are flooding the engine with fuel. On the fuel rail you will find a fuel pressure regulator. Try replacing that . It sounds as if the pressure g=regulator isn't working therefore allowing a lot more fuel than it should. Hope this helps you out.
