My driver seat on my 2005 Chevy Equinox wont go foward, however every thing else works on it. Like backward, tilt ect. Is there a way to fix this without replacing the whole motor??

You see the circuit breaker, supplies voltage to power seat switch, You see the wire color? On hinge side of driver door is probably a wiring harness, probably has a protective rubber boot covering. Pull the boot back far enough to see wire colors, use a testlight, have to penetrate the insulation to get at the wiring. If no voltage, either wire is broken or check for voltage at the circuit breaker. Black wire is ground, check that also.

You see the wire colors for seat motors, those are voltage and ground, depending on which way the motor is moving.

Check for an object in the seat tracks blocking movement. A napkin, a coin etc. .

Haven't worked on yours, but all the newer GM's have two bolts in the back part of the seat, at the floor board. Push the seat forward, remove the covers , if any, remove the bolts, tilt the seat up and pull back on it. This should get it out.

if going backward is working,and foward is not,, easy
,1st determine what is defective-so u know what to replace/repair-2 things only ,[1-switch or 2- motor under d seat]
by presing the backward swicth,, you can hear the sound of the motor running and u can see the seat is going backward...
1-now by pressing the foward switch, and you hear the motor running but not that strong like the rear ..and the seat move an inche /a little and stop,,.then u have a defect weak motor,
2- now by pressing the foward swicth and u dont hear any motor running then the switch is most likely defective
defective switch -repair- spray contact cleaner,remove cover switch,penetrate inside
defective motor-repair-remove motor replace inside carbon,,.chiepest way not to spend to much money..
i suggest even once a month,lubricate all power seat/even not powerseat/,door hinges/.trunk door/.power antenna./ .by spraying lubricating oil,. for maintanace,..you can save a lot..

Try turning the steering wheel while turn the key. If that doesn't work have someone rock the truck foward and backward causing it to roll slightly while you turn the key. If it has tilt wheel try changing the tilt position. Hope this helps.

Only other thing I could think of is that the connection to the motor could have come unplugged or there is a short in the wiring. It could have gotten pinched. I would check all the plugs that go under the seat. If you have someone who knows how to use a multimeter they can test to see if there is any power getting to the motor or if the motor is good.

Try pushing back as you work the switch forward and backward. The most likely problem is a stuck runner. Remove the two front bolts and the two rear nuts from the seat legs and tilt the seat backwards to clean and lubricate the runners

motor in the seat is bad

you have to take the clips out of the grill and pull it foward while pulling the light towards the grill and it will come out.

The seat may be too far forward, and when it is at the forward limits, the seat sticks. I get in the seat, and I press the back button whilst pushing hard with my feet against the floor.
