Mass airflow filter

Hi,
I went to Auto Zone, the engine tester indicated I needed a mass air flow filter and I replaced it, but the check engine light still stays on.

Last week my check engine light came on Auto zone said it was mass air flow sensor the next day my car would not stay running like it was running out of gas

So you replaced the sensor and now the light is back on, right? Have you checked the code again to make sure it's still the MAF sensor code? If so, you've got a connector or wiring harness issue.

1997 VW 2.0 Engine Air filter / check engine light

Sounds like it could be a mass airflow sensor failure. Take your car do your reputable mechanic and have them scan your computer to find out what the error code is, and then go from there. If it says that the mass airflow sensor is offline, I would look to make sure that the connector is properly secured on the air intake hose.

Took car to auto zone after check engine light came on and car stalls when cold. Is there anything cheaper then buying a new nass airflow sensor I can try first?

They do make a mass air flow sensor spray cleaner...and it does say MASS Air Flow Sensor Cleaner on the spray can....this would be your cheapest route first. Auto Zone and all other stores sell this product.

Codes indicate both banks running rich

Auto Zone plugged in and indicated Bank 1 & Bank 2 running rich.
I have a CV '96. 124 k mi.
I replaced the Mass Air Flow Sensor. $85-$110 30-40 min.
Very easy to replace with the included instructions.
All well so far. Engine Light now off.

Many just clean the contacts with contact cleaner spray.
( saw it on eHow search' mass air flow sensor' )
I opted for a new one.

I have a 1995 ford taurus engine stalls when idling and smells of gas when accelerating it bucks. Changed fuel filter, could it be mass air flow sensor?

Start with smaller problems and check the fuel pressure regulator, the mass air flow sensor for these vehicles is pretty pricy. Is the check engine light on? If so, head to your nearest auto zone and have them check for trouble codes. If the check engine light isn't on, its not likely your mass air flow sensor

Check engine light

It might but what exactly are the codes. Before you change the Mass air flow sensor, try cleaning it first with a can of mass flow cleaner.
If your running a oil K&N filter, there could be some oil residue on the sensor. Start with that and change the filter or clean it if it's a K&N.
The O2 sensor's could be bad also, you really need the code's to be sure what sensor is giving you the faulty signal.
Good luck and hope this helps.
