97 VW Jetta Diesel 200,000 km. Been having coolant system problems. Had water pump replaced recently and coolant system seems out of wack,Maybe these cars run hot and they need allot of coolant/ temperature attention? The other day I accidentally overfilled my coolant reservoir and the RPM meter began to flutter? So I pulled over and ATTEMPTED TO REMOVE SOME OF THE COOLANT. As I opened it the system let out a puff sound and and the oil light was now flashing. I checked the oil and it was good. I even topped it off.So later after stopping into an auto place I wanted to know how I might fix the problem. A mechanic there said he'd had the same problem with his 95 Golf and told me that my oil sensors were detecting NO OIL? because I had some how creatred an air bubble in my coolant system which was detecting low coolant. My temp gauge shows its not overheating, but Now the oil light keeps flashing and buzzing when I slow down?
Is there anyone out there who recognizes this problem..Do I need to burp this system or is this another problem?
Steven
Water comming back through overflow always have to fill it every day . no water in oil
Well bleeding the air out of the coolant system is pretty easy to do at home and will cost you very little to nothing. You can do it 2 ways and it should work either way. first of all you have to make sure that your radiator cap is higher than the point where your upper radiator hose goes into your engine. If it's not follow you upper radiator hose to where it goes into the engine and there should be a little bleed valve there it's prolly a 10mm bolt looking thingy. open the radiator cap or crack open the bleed valve, start your engine and let the coolant travel around for awhile to work all the air out. just keep an eye on the engine temp. let it run for about 10 minutes or so and close it up and see if that helped any.
SOURCE: 97 Diesel Jetta OIL LIGHT sensors mistake (Require?)Burping of a coolant system?
Most probably an air pocket in ur coolant system, just let it run without the cap on the coolant bowl until no bubbles come out.
As for ur oil light and buzzing, it's most probably the low oil level sensors tripping out, which is normal for a VW.
There are two oil sensors, one on the front of the engine near the distributor and one on the right hand side of motor when ur facing the motor. The are both the same size and have only 1 wire on em.
If i remember one has a white connector and one has a black connector. Costs about 20 bucks for the pair.
Good luck and get back to me if u have questions.

2002 vw jetta turbo diesel 1.9 I've got air in my cooling system , can any one tell how to bleed it out Thanks Fred
I have the same problem but I dont have a bleeder valve (that I can see) on mine. I have 97 vw jetti and it has no power to the cooling fan either. What should I do now. I have replaced eveything that has anyting to with the cooling system.
