I Purchased an OBD2 meter. I connect meter to

need to reprogram ignition key security system when battery disconnected. turn ignition key to the on position for 3 to 10 seconds until the lock light goes out then start vechicle.if lock light dont turn off turn ignition switch to on position 30 seconds until lock light turn off.

cant turn off problem you can try another key.put key in the ignition turn on position for 3 seconds the security light should turn off.then turn off ignition switch wait 5 to 10 seconds try start vechicle if still fails to start.problem in the theft security system.dealership has to code scan problem could be in the ignition switch which is antenna ring.problem could be transponder key or problem could be in the immobilizer control module and ECM.

Have the starter tested! Check the cables to see if they are in good condition. Check the cable that goes to the starter. They all need tight connections.Don`t know the year,make and model. but older cars have a solenoid switch that is not on the starter.

alot of the computers reset by turning the key to the on position and push in the trip meter holding the trip meter in,turn the key off.... continue holding the trip meter in for about thirty seconds.when you turn the key back on it should be reset

LIKE AT WORK, SHOPPING MALL OR STORE.WHEN YOU GET IN CAR AND IT DONT CRANK.PUT KEY IN THE IGNITION SWITCH AND TURN IGNITION SWITCH TO THE ON POSITION FOR 10 MINUTE.UNTIL YOU SEE THE SECURITY LIGHT TURN OFF. WHEN SECURITY LIGHT TURN OFF TURN OFF IGNITION SWITCH WAIT FOR 5 SECONDS. THEN TRY STARTING VECHICLE SHOULD START.TAKE VECHICLE TO DEALERSHIP.THEY WILL HAVE SCAN VECHICLE.YOUR PROBLEM COULD BE WORN IGNITION KEYS OR WORN IGNITION SWITCH ALSO FAULTY BCM.THE DEALERSHIP HAS TO FIX AND REPROGRAM THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM.IF YOU REPLACE KEYS, IGNITION SWITCH OR BCM. THE 10 MINUTE TRICK WILL GET CAR STARTED TO GET HOME OR SHOP.BUT DONT KEEP DRIVING BECAUSE IT WILL COME TO A POINT WHERE VECHICLE WONT CRANK AGAIN.

Locate the diagnostic connector. On the 1997 Nissan Maxima the connector is located in the OBD2 standardized location under the driver-side dash, slightly to the right of the steering column. With the ignition key in the "OFF" position, plug the connector of the scan tool into the diagnostic connector of the car. Turn the ignition key to the run position but do not start the engine unless instructed to by the scan tool.

Turn the scan tool on and select "Global OBD2" from the main menu. Select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes" from the first sub-menu, and then "Read Trouble Codes" from the second sub-menu. Write down all listed codes and their descriptions before erasing them. This will save time if you must perform additional diagnostics.

Press the back button on the scan tool until the second sub-menu is displayed, and select "Erase Codes" or "Clear Codes," depending on the manufacturer of the scan tool. A message will appear asking you to confirm your desire to erase the codes and other stored data. Select "Yes". The scan tool will alert you when the codes have been erased.

Test drive the vehicle to verify the repair is complete. The 1997 Nissan Maxima on-board computer will run a series of tests on the systems in the vehicle, including emission control devices. To complete these tests you must take two test drives that include a variety of driving conditions, with a 2-minute cool-down between each test drive. If the service engine soon light does not come back on during these two test drives, you have completed the repairs and the reset.

I do not have manual in front of me but it is in the owners manual. best I recall is (mine is 2006 rav4) to put trip meter on A with key on, turn key off then push and hold trip meter button down while turning key on.....or something like that ....read manual.....

If you do not see the reset procedure for your vehicle:Reference the owner's manual that came with your vehicle. Reset procedures are often described in depth with illustrations:

turn the key to the accesories position. pump the break pedal 3 times. the check engin light should flash. then turn the key to the off position and then start the car. the light should reset.


I am not sure if that works I have a 2004 Odysey and I did this and it worked.


While the car is off, push and _hold_ in your Trip meter button, then while still holding that button in... turn your ignition key to _On_ (not start). Wait until light goes out or you need a hair cut... which ever comes 1st. LOL, seriously it should go out in about 15 seconds or less

For a 2007 Honda Odyssey: Turn your ignition to the On position. Press and hold down the trip meter button for ~10 seconds (until the display blinks). Release the trip meter button. Press and hold the trip meter button a second time for ~5 seconds (until the display shows your oil at 100%).
