2002 Volvo s60 2.4t. My throttle module went out in April. Got it replaced. Then had oil leak at crankshaft seal. Had it replaced. Then throttle module started acting up again. It is June 9th. Repairman called and stated ECU has gone bad and that has probably been the reason at the beginning! Shouldn't that have been caught the first time and how much will this cost me?

Yes they should have, your computer has a trouble code itself if it malfunctions. You can find a ecm on amazon for around $130. It seems rather strange to me however that the throttle module is the only thing affected, I would have the trouble codes read, and check all fuses and relays first.

Can you show me 99 Durango gaskets from top of engine going down ??

I'm sorry, but I can't provide visual images or diagrams. However, I can describe the general order of gaskets in a 1999 Dodge Durango engine from the top going down:
  1. Valve Cover Gaskets: These gaskets are located on top of the cylinder heads and seal the valve covers. They help prevent oil leaks from the top of the engine.
  2. Intake Manifold Gasket: The intake manifold gasket seals the connection between the intake manifold and the cylinder heads. It helps maintain proper air-fuel mixture and prevents vacuum leaks.
  3. Throttle Body Gasket: If equipped, the throttle body gasket seals the connection between the throttle body and the intake manifold. It ensures proper airflow into the engine.
  4. Exhaust Manifold Gaskets: These gaskets are located between the exhaust manifold and the cylinder heads. They seal the exhaust gases and prevent leaks.
  5. Head Gaskets: The head gaskets are situated between the cylinder heads and the engine block. They seal the combustion chambers and coolant passages.
  6. Oil Pan Gasket: The oil pan gasket is located at the bottom of the engine and seals the oil pan to the engine block. It prevents oil leaks from the oil pan.
  7. Front and Rear Main Seals: These seals are located at the front and rear of the engine crankshaft. They prevent oil leaks where the crankshaft exits the engine block.
  8. Timing Cover Gasket: If equipped, the timing cover gasket seals the timing chain or belt cover to the engine block. It helps protect the timing components and prevents oil leaks.

Volvo s40 oil from exhaust

Hi Paul:
There are two things to check, if the PCV valve was bad or if the filter was clogged it could cause and oil leak. The most likely possibility would be the rear crankshaft seal. These commonly leak on these vehicles. Volvo has an updated seal available for this engine since it has been a problem.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using Fixya, and have a nice day.

1990 volvo 240 front oil leak cam and crankshaft oil seals? problems with home repair leaking 1 qt in 2 days, getting worse came on quick engine damage if oil level is maintained?

It is not a solution, but as long as there is oil in there, you are good. Just make sure you keep a good eye on it, just in case it gets work. Best wishes. If you need anything, let me know Bob. I am always here.

What do you do when the engine is leaking oil in the back

U will need to replace the crankshaft rear main seal in most cases this involves removing the transmission to access the full circle type cranksaft seal,m before doing that have the area cleaned of oil and checked to verify the source of the leak.

Oil leak from the back of moter (2001)volvo v 70

HERE IS WHAT WE DO TO TRACK DOWN LEAKS, CLEAN ALL THE OILY RESIDUE OFF, THEN DRIVE THE CAR AND PUT IT ON A LIFT AND LOOK FOR THE LEAKS SOURCE, THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO DO THIS, THE COMMON CAUSE IS THE REAR MAIN SEAL OF THE CRANKSHAFT AND THE VALVE COVER.

Loud whisle in motor goes away when you remove oil cap

The oil trap box is plugged up. You need to remove the intake manifold and replaced the oil trap box. It is the large black box mounted against the block just behind the a/c compressor. While it's apart check the nipple that goes bolts to the underside of the intake manifold. Use pipe cleaner to make sure it's clear. Also replace both seals for the oil trap box and of course the intake manifold gasket and it's a good idea to clean the trottle body while it's all apart. Use either BG air intake cleaner (available from and BG dealer or most Volvo dealers) or Berrymans B12 carbuerator cleaner. Spray it on a rag and wipe the inside of the throttle module to clean it. don't spray to much directly onto the throttle blade, it is possible it will damage the seals inside the unit.

Hope this helps.

1999 cross country v70 awd crankshaft seal replacement

Your info is confusing. The rear cam seal is not inside the timing belt cover, and the crank seal is at the bottom of the engine, while the cam seal is at the top.

Is there oil at the top, around the cam seal? Or just at the bottom? It's common for the oil pump seal to leak. If you get the oil pump reseal kit, it contains the oil pump seal and gasket, as well as the crankshaft seal. Make sure you seal the oil pump bolts, Volvo has special copper washers for this purpose.

Just try to locate the oil leak before replacing any more parts. Sometimes it can be something simple like the oil cap seal or the oil trap housing.
