I have a 2000 Volvo s80 turbo, I think I may have two troubles here, first when im driving in traffic the car is starting to die when I'm slowing down, if my foot is not completely on the brake (rolling to stop). And second the car tends to idle up and down by itself. Can anyone help me please?!

Yes the engine light is on but it always shuts off after a while of driving. Is a bad throttle position sensor the result for the car dying?

    Okay thank you so much.

I went to the auto parts store and there is no code the computer is giving. And my year make and model doesn't have a throttle position sensor. So I'm now at a loss. Do you have any other advice?

Check for vacuum leaks. Also make sure any air intake boots are on tightly. If not, this could give faulty readings to the MAF.

Is an engine light on? If so, get the codes pulled free at an auto parts store.

Also, your symptoms fit the description of a bad throttle position sensor. Our car did the same thing. However, this would throw a code, meaning the light would be on. So check my other suggestions first.

Get to an auto parts store and have them read the codes. That will tell you what is going on. The computer should store the codes so they can be had when you get them to hook up the scanner tool.

Well, I am pretty stumped then. I would recommend you to a forum below I found that are very active and seem to have some good knowledge that is better with Volvo's than me...I am sure they may be able to give you some better ideas and specifics.

When I stop or sit in neutral my 2000 Volvo S80 idle goes up and down, how can I fix this?

symtom of faulty I A C motor (idle air control motor) this regulates the idle air to fuel ratio when at idle, when faulty dumps more fuel ,then the o2 sensors tell computor to much fuel for throttle position/ speed so computor backs off fuel almost stalls dumps fuel again and repeats. we call this hunting. because air/ fuel mixture changes idle goes up n down.
im sure the dealer will gladly relieve you of lots of money.....try aftermarket or an auto wrecker may have one . careful i've seen some volvo engine parts need programing after instalation (dealer only)!!!

My volvo s80 will not start and when it does the engine shakes and then it dies out, it says "Reduced Engine Power" what can that be?

Have the timing checked if you can get it runing for a few minutes. If not I would have the computers codes checked if possible. It sounds like a timing problem

Im lossing horsepower with slow accel. and a rough idle when in heavy traffic. odb2 computer says its a mass airflow sensor prob.... could this cause these problems? its for a 2000 volvo s40 1.9L turbo

If your airflow sensor (meter) is faulty then nothing in the fuel system will work as it should. This sensor tells the computer how much air is entering the engine so it can determine the fuel needed. It sets the amount of fuel by adjusting the length of time fuel is injected. So obviously your problem.

2000 Volvo S80 T6 scanner code P0237

Actually I believe the code has something to do with fuel.. the P0237 means Powertrain (P), the 0 means its a common code throughout all vehicles not manufactur specific and the 2 means Fuel , the 37 is the specific code and says the problem usually that i dont know off hand but if theres like a lack of power or you know this is creating a misfire i would start out by checkin fuel pressure [pressure, pump, rails] and then fuel delievery [injectors].

hope that gets you started or an idea maybe

ps a turbo is something you usually install yourself so the car shouldnt be equipped with a turbo sensor...i dont think that exists
