I have a 2005 Ford Focus. The anti theft system was locked accidentally. How can I unlock the system.

Put a battery charger on it for at least 8 hours on 6 amp charge. Make sure the battery ground has a good contact using a digital multimeter. After 8 hours, start the car and run it.

Next day, try and start again. If the battery is flat, you have parasitic draw.

One further thought, does this old vehicle have a security system and engine immobilizer? Do you have a steady or flashing red light anywhere. You may be locked out of starting the engine because you disconnected the battery. In fact Goggle says it does have anti-theft.

New battery & new starter has nothing too do with it . SECURITY LIGHT on DOES , anti-theft system activated . All you can do is have it towed to a qualified repair shop. Nothing you can or should try .

That's a picture of a car and a lock - passive anti-theft system (PATS) . That means there is DTC - diagnostic trouble code stored in the PATS module . There is nothing you can do but take it to the dealer ! sorry .

Verify battery condition by turning on headlights and seeing if they are bright. If ok, the theft system may be activated. Try locking and unlocking doors with the key fob. This will usually reset the theft deterent system.

Sounds like your immobiliser has a fault and is engaging when it should not be. One of the functions of the immobiliser is to engage when the battery power has been disconnected, this is an anti theft precaution against someone trying to tamper with the electrics when attempting to hot wire the car. Have Ford reset the immobiliser anti theft system.

if the theft light is flashing fast, the PATS(passive anti-theft system) can only be reset with a ford scanner... you can try leaving the key in the on position for a little over an hour, sometimes it works.

Your vehicle has a anti-theft system in the keys/column. It is activated when you take the key out of the ignition. The theft light on the dash should blink.
