I have recently replaced my coolant reservoir due to old one having cracks. i have also replaced my thermastat. any time im on a uphill slope or going more than a 20 mile distant my 2002 taurus will overheat. coolant level is where it should be and there isnt any visible leaks. but coolant comes out of the cap. im not sure if its not holding pressure due to a blown gasket or what. there is no creamy substance on oil cap that insist its the gasket. the water pump is fine. im lost on figuring it out and dont have the means to put into the shop. can anyone help.

I would do the cheap trouble shoot first , have your radiator flushed and see if clogs.

There are several possibilities.

The thermostat is defective or installed upside down.
One of the hoses has collapsed.
The hose fitting on the new reservoir bottle is blocked by sprue or the hose is somehow obstructed - perhaps a hose clamp slipped and is pinching the hose shut instead of holding it onto the fitting - check both ends of the hose.

A leaky radiator cap would allow coolant to come out, but you wouldn't overheat until you ran low on coolant. In any case, the coolant should go to the reservoir before it comes out of the radiator cap, so look for a plumbing problem there first.

check for low coolant level make sure coolant system been bleed from air.make radiator full coolant and coolant reservoir on the full cold mark.if all is good the cooling fan relay could be bad or the engine coolant temperature sensor could be faulty.

Fog on windows inside..I have replace heater core..and the thermastat..what else could be the problem

If you just recently replaced them, it could be left over coolant from the old core. Antifreeze takes longer to dry than water. G ive it some time, and if it still persists. you may have bought a bad core.

1996 chrysler concorde overheating, not sure where leak is both intake and outtake hoses squeeze so its not rust deposits, just replaced the thermostat a week ago. looking at the engine the leak is...

If you can see it's coming from the coolant reservoir area, it's most likely one of three things. The hose is cracked, plastic tank is cracked, or the hose is disconnected. A crack in the hose will usually only leak when the water is hot from the engine and the heat will force the coolant out of said crack. Try, after filling the tank to the mark, leave the cap off the tank to keep pressure from building, then drive it for a bit to see if it overheats because it can't push coolant out with no pressure from the heat. If it's good, then it's just the crack in tank or hose. Replace whichever one it is or both to be sure.
