Gotta be honest, have been a mechanic for 25+ years and have never changed a thermostat in the 3.3 liter. Why you would need to remove upper and lower hoses as well as all the drive belts I have no idea but am guessing they are in the way. Anyhow, below is all the information I found in the service manual for you. I hope this helps and good luck.

Can I replace the 3.3liter v6 in my 2003 Nissan Xterra with a 4.3 liter v6

No, a 4.3 liter V6 is not a compatible replacement for the 3.3 liter V6 in a 2003 Nissan Xterra. The Xterra is only built to accommodate engines up to a maximum of 3.6 liters. It is important to replace an engine with one that is compatible with the vehicle and meets its specifications. A reputable mechanic could advise on the best replacement engine options for your Xterra.

Where is the thermostat located on a 2000 nissan xterra? Is there a diagram anywhere?

Hi, the thermostat is located in the housing just above the water pump. Follow the top hose on the radiator. There is a metal tubing in the middle of that top hose that leads to the thermostat housing. The housing has 3 screws that attaches it to the engine.

Need knock sensor replcement need location?

I just replaced this on 02 xterra 3.3 L V6. The knock sensor is in the center of the engine block below the lower intake manifold. Its a lot of work but it wasnt too hard just took time. Getting some of the hoses off in rear of motor was hardest part. But you need to remove upper and lower intake manifold and you will see it.

2002 Xterra fuel pump replacement

No, like others said, there's an access plate under the rear seats. Most imports (Honda, Toyota, Nissan) have this access plate to get to the pump. Some domestics don't (90's Camaros etc)
