Creaking noise from fuel pump area

Hi, I have just changed the fuel filter on a Hyundai Accent 2000 and when I started it up there was a creaking or light thumping noise coming from the fuel pump. I haven't noticed this before and thought it was just air in the system but after running the car the noise hasn't gone away. The other thing is that when I switch the car off there is a series of creaks coming from the fuel pump and they get softer / quieter until the noise stops, about 30 seconds.
It sounds like an expansion and contraction only as I said I have never noticed it before. Thanks. Cheers... Mack

Seeing as you did not have the noise until after the filter was replaced. Verify that it is secured proprly where it is mounted. Everything should be as it was when you started the job. If noise is still there you should verify the correct filter. Possibly from the dealer and not a discount parts store. It is never a good idea to purchase a less expensive part just to save the cash.

Sounds like the filter has a blockage. Remove it and see if you can blow thru it easily. I would make sure you have the right filter. Check the lines ,maybe one got kinked when you removed the old filter and it will make noise trying to force all that gas thru it. Good luck....Dan

Replaced fuel filter on 2000 Hyundai Accent, now the car dies more often.

I would make sure the Arrow on the fuel filter is going in the right direction. The arrow on the fuel filter should be going towards the engine away from the fuel tank,

If you are sure the fuel filter is on correctly. Check for leaks,

The next step would be to change out the fuel pump. The pump could be on it way out.
Low pressure or intermittently no pressure .
