1 If engine overheating has occurred the coolant level will naturally be low due to expansion of the coolant from the extreme heat of the engine. This heat expansion forces coolant out of the radiator and coolant reservoir. To test for an engine coolant leak move the car to a dry smooth surface and allow the engine to cool. Remove the radiator cap and carefully (do not spill) add water until full, then re-install cap. Start engine and allow to run for about three to five minutes (do not allow to overheat) while the engine is running inspect the ground below the engine, if an engine coolant leak is present observe the location of the coolant drops, this will help determine where to start looking for the coolant leak (shut the engine off before inspecting). If no coolant is observed two additional checks are needed for a complete test. With the engine off remove the engine oil fill cap and turn it over, if a milky oil condensation is present the engine may have a failed cylinder head or intake manifold gasket allowing coolant to leak internally. To inspect engine gaskets disassembly is required. Next, the car heater core must be inspected; the quickest way to check the heater core condition without removal the heater core is to inspect the passenger's side foot well compartment carpet for the presences of coolant. If coolant is present the heater core has failed and must be replaced or repaired. After necessary repairs have been made refill the cooling system with manufacturers recommended engine coolant and recheck operation.

1998 dodge dakota overheated was ran hot lost all power an shutdown

When an engine gets hot, you must shut it off before it gets so hot that it begins to lose power. Sometimes this simply can't be done safely. Once the engine gets so hot that it shuts down, permanent damage may have be done. Bearing can gall, piston rings can break, piston crowns melt, but usually the oil breaks down and the main damage is to bearings and perhaps the crankshaft. Diagnostics would include changing the oil, attaching a good mechanical oil pressure gauge then spin the engine with the spark plugs removed to see how bad the damage is. If oil pressure is adequate, run a compression test. This should give you enough information to decide if the engine can be saved without a major overhaul. Low compression can mean blown head gaskets, warpped heads, broken piston rings, warpped valves, etc.

Ac will not come with switch but well come on with hot wire

Could be a relay or a low pressure switch. Have you traced power from the control to the ac clutch ?

That sounds like a bad spot in the throttle position sensor. Have you checked that, or substituted a new one for it?

I have a 2006 dodge grand caravan and has developed a very loud whine on start-up and it usually worsens as I turn the wheel while driving. The noise seems to subside once I've been driving for awhile.

the wine is most likely the power steering pump, check your fluid level if its full then you will probably have to replace the pump. the reason it gets better after it worms up is that as the fluid gets hot it expands and thins so it take less effert for the pump to pump hot fluid then cold.

Car stering wheel is hard to turn left or right

your power steering pump has a cap on it.you have cold mark and hot mark.when car is cold engine not running.when you remove power steering cap it should be on cold mark.if not add until you get to cold mark on cap stick..dont over fill or you blow the seal.now when engine is hot been running.turn off car check.power steering cap should read full hot.mean level is correct.when you first check power steering fluid and it was real real low.you got a leaking high pressure hose.or power steering pump seal is leaking.if all check out good.your problem could be low tire pressure.worn ball joints.and tie rod ends.rack and pinion steering gear binding.

I have a 1998 GMC Jimmy & there's no power going to my low pressure switch which is located on the accumulator. I ran a hot wire from the battery to the ac compressor, filled the system with 1.8lbs of...

Running a hot wire bypasses any compressor cycling. Low side should pull down to 20 psi or less when compressor is hot wired. If not pulling down you may have weak compressor or way to much freon in system.

A?C BLOWING HOT AIR

Make sure your system is fully charged with r134. The low pressure switch won't allow it to activate if there isn't enough in it.
