SOURCE: 2000 pontiac emergency brake stuck. how do i

Are you in a Northern Climate were road salt is used during winter? The emergency brake problems I have encountered tend to be due to rust and corrosion accumulating on the wires and metal pivot points that operate the brake via the emergency handle on the center console.

Get underneath the car (chock the wheels---ALL FOUR! with bricks or large chunks of wood---be sure the car is in PARK!) and find the wire that connects to the handle of the brake---follow it to the rear brakes, and you will see a split where it goes to the L and R sides via a sliding clasp of steel that looks like a C, and has wires running over the top, and to each rear brake.

At this point, grab the wire on one side of it and PULL HARD several times, slack between pulls. Do this for each side---that should release the assembly, and the shoes from holding the drum.

After you have done this, lubricate the pivot points and the wire connection to the brake handle with TRI-FLOW (NOT WD-40)or another teflon based lubricant.

SOURCE: car won't turn over

Neutral safety switch may be going bad or is out of adjustment. Switch is on the transmission under the shift linkage ear where shift cable attaches. Loosen it and put car in reverse (not running) turn switch so that reverse lights come on. semi-tighten switch and check that it starts in both park and neutral. If not you need to change the switch.

SOURCE: low coolant level in 2000 Grand Prix GT

I had the same problem this winter. The head gaskets were blown, took the block apart and replaced all the gaskets. Cost about 300 - 400 in parts and took one full day to finish with 3 men who aren't particularly experts but who aren't rookies to say the least.

SOURCE: wont shift out of park

it is probably a problem with the ignition switch.

Clicking noise from transmission when taking right turn or sitting with driver side down hill

could be the steering box or gear... check there for the noise. You really can't tell where noise comes from from inside a car. They can be very transient

I have a 1989 cadillac seville and all of a sudden , the cruse control stop working and when I'm tring to start the car the information center says, wait 3 minutes , then I can start it.

the cruse and the wait to start are most likely not related, the systems are not in common and use to completely different control systems.

lets start with the cruse, what we see fail the most is the cruse switch in the steering collum and this is easy to check if you have access to a automotive scanner, all you need to do is run a switch test with the scan tool, if you don't have a scanner then it would be in your best interest to take this problem to a shop.

the wait to start, is because the pass key system in the car did not recognize the key when you stuck it in the key lock cylinder, this could be just a worn key, or it most likely is a worn key lock cylinder, we replace many of them each year so i think i would try a new key first if the paoblem persists then replace the key cylinder.

BAD CRUISE CONTROL

? Does all other functions on the turn signal lever work? Is the switch pushed to the right? (cruse on) Does the button on the end of the turn signal lever pushed in? I don't mean to be telling you the obvious but I make mistakes like that. Have you done a scan (obdII) for any errors? The multifunction switch on the steering colum controls many functions of your buick. Did you check the fuse. See owners manual either glove box, or passangers side under the hood.(its labeled cruse) Are your brake lights working? (they deactivate the cruse control) If your 1999 Buick is in fair condition I wouldn't look for a wiring problem (corroded connectors) The cruise contol module is located under the hood on the drivers side inner fender wall check for damage ie connectors. It could be a sensor in the transmission?(speed control) Just start eliminating the obvious Edmonds, Haynes, Chillions have manuals that are available at most major libraries for diagrams an suggestions. Sorry but without more specific info. there can be a multitude of causes.

I just try to help
