It could possibly be a blown fuse, just find the fuse access panel under the dash,on the inside of panel should be a diagram that will help you locate the cigar lighter. If blown replace. If it is not blown, you may need to replace cigar lighter.

I have a 2004 Saturn Ion2 and ive changed my fuses for my cigarette lighter once and it started working, my fuse blew for some reason and i replaced it but now it doesnt work at all. Why is that so?

If the fuse is not blown now, the wire on the lighter socket probably has burnt off or very close to it, which will prevent socket from functioning. Replace socket and repair wire as needed, not a expensive fix if you are a little mechaniclly incline. Attached video shows how it is done on some models.

Keep blowing fuse with lighter - replaced lighter 3x's and doesnt work

There is a short in the wire somewhere... Disconnect the battery, get an ohms meter and remove both the wires from the cigarette lighter and check for connectivity. Trace the wires back to where the short is. It is also possible that the socket is bad, look inside the socket, you will see the positive connector in the socket, the ground is the sides... without touching the two with the same probe at the same time, make sure the wires are disconnected and chech with the ohms meter for connectivity between the side of the socket and the positive lug on the back of the socket.

I have a car battery charger that plugs into a cigarette lighter. However, I lost the directins & don't know if the charger itself is charged. Also, How do I use the charger if the car battery is...

I am guessing that you mean you have one of the jumpstart devices that you plug into the lighter socket? If that is the case plug it into the lighter socket turn it on and try to start the vehicle. If that doesnt work or you think the unit itself is dead plug it into the lighter socket on a vehicle that has a fully charged battery to charge it. If you post the manufacturer, model and name of your charger we may be able to find a manual for it than i can answer your question better

Liter wont work

i assume that you mean the 12 v outlet socket or ciggy lighter ,well having done quite a few of late for the dreaded sat nav i have found that a lot of these units are using a sort of double insulated feed on the socket and if you firstly check for a feed and if you have a feed but it still doesnt work then remove the socket and look on the back and you will see a small wire loop from the + feed to the inner part ,well what happens is this loop wire ceases to function so the socket isnt live .What i do here is to solder a new loop wire between the two connections and it will all work again but do not use a air pump or ciggy lighter in the socket at it could knock out your soldered joint again .

Ok i have a 01 ford windstar the cig. lighter caught on fire. replaced fuse now it and to obd doesnt work. really need obd it is running like u know what. dont know why??

When your lighter lit on fire it could have melted the casings on the wires shorting them together. This would cause the fuse to blow every time you use the lighter. Also it is the same fuse for both the lighter and obd (which in your owners manual will be called Data Link Connector, or DLC). Replace the fuse but don't use the lighter. When you plug in the DLC it should work just fine then try the lighter. If fuse blows you have to fix the wiring to the lighter or possibly the lighter socket.

I unplug my battery , and when I plug again my radio doesnt work , the radio ask me for a code what I do?

Each time you disconnect the battery, the computer loses all codes for security system, radio, etc. If you know the code for radio, enter it into radio using the number buttons. To prevent this again in the future, you should purchase a power cord for the computer. It has the lighter plug on one end and a plug you connect to the car's computer. Plug the lighter plug into any 12 volt plug (not the lighter socket in your car)...you can purchase a portable jump starter with the 12 volt socket. The purpose of this is to keep the car's computer "powered" while you disconnect the battery.

Where can i find the fuse for the cigarette lighter it doesnt work anymore i thin k it may be a fuse

I am pretty sure that the lighter socket is wired in a loop that has more things wired along with it. Have you noticed if there are other things that are not working? Check to see if that is the case. There is a possibility that the coil on the end of the lighter is failed. Try another cigarette lighter from another vehicle in it and see if that works. If so replace the coil as they usually screw off for easy replacement..mike [email protected]
