I'm having the same exact problem as cpurdey with my 2004 Mazda MPV. My mechanic is quite certain it is not the wheel bearing or hub but seems to think it's a bearing in the transmission. Is this possible? Thanks Dave By cpurdey on Jan 16, 2010 Recently noticed when driving over 40mph, I hear a loud humming like tire tread noise, coming from the front. When I'm turning right it gets worse. Turn left and it virtually vanishes. Is this the bearings? Hub assembly? Thanks

If it gets worse as you're turning right, but not left - Most definitely a wheel bearing on the right side. The right turn puts more stress on the right wheel - louder noise - turn left and release the stress - no noise. You can also lift the vehicle up on a jack and listen to the wheel and hear the bearing in the hub making noise.

Mazda mpv 2006 repack wheel bearing

There is a little difference between the front and rear. The days of packing wheel bearing is almost over. The front bearing you have to pull the hub and change to bearing. The rear wheel you have to change out the hub bearing and all. The front is a sealed bearing and not serviceable. Please rate my answer so I am rewarded points for it.

My car vibrate at 100-120km/hr i have bought new tires and done the wheel balncing but it still vibrate and whenever i tried to apply the break at this speed it vibrate serously. it's a 2001 mazda mpv

This is due to poor settings of the wheel bearings,tyres,- check balancing once again, wheel drums/ brake pads, suspension , joints and steering.
In all the entire front suspension must be checked, the WHELL ALIGNMENT must be checked with precision and each of the wheels must be checked for damage on hub, axle or chassis.

There is a grinding, squealing noise coming from the front of the car, offside tyre area. Usually only when I turn the wheel to the right. I am sure I could smell a burning smell. I have checked the...

Probably one of two things. Either the brakes are shot (caliper frozen, pads worn down to metal, etc) or a front hub bearing. From what you describe sounds more like a wheel bearing. Most modern cars do not have replaceable bearings, you have to get the whole hub. Depends on how mechanically inclined you are to replace. If not a local repair shop can handle it instead of the dealer.

its not the same. the gm is a bolt on hub and bearing. on the mazda, its a press in. you need to remove the steering knuckle and use a hydraulic press to press the old one out and the new one in.

1995 Mazda MPV Noise

if it's a knocking sound it could be worn internal compnents ie. rod bearings. if it's a ticking sound the valves may need adjustment.
either way a mechanic will have to hear the sound to properly identify it.

Romove the front hubs on Mazda MPV 2004

Righty tighty, lefty loosey. It is a tough nut to get loode. Should not need to remove it for the rotors, but it has been a long time since I have done one.
