My Hyundai Grandeur XG30 has a gremlin. It puts itself into "Limp Mode" and Check the Engine light flashes. I have had it at 2 mechanics plugged it into a computer and neither know whats wrong. They reset the computer and it drives ok for a few days and then next you start its in limp mode or like yesteday it went into limp mode WHILE i was driving it. The revs are up and down the bloody car is possessed!!

didnt specify vehicle --generic answer--until repair is made the vehicle will show engine light and have codes --if gearbox is problem for limp mode /until repairs are made or gearbox replaced you will be in limp mode --and as to sensor find out what one it was --start problem may show back up if sensor was problem --and GET a 3rd opinion you have 2 mechanics with different opinions on your problem and i guess they are reading your trouble codes differently
You MUST READ the error codes to learn which detected fault is causing the 'limp home' mode. Try PepBoys or Auto Zone etc free Scan to read the codes. May require DEALER diagnostic computer to reset/clear the error code(s) and/or repairs. Good Luck, it may be trivial loose connector or may be mega-buck disaster
the .pcm puts it in limp mode and it will stay in mode until light is turned off. You need to get the trouble code, repair it, erase the codes (with a scanner that retrieves the codes), and then you will be out of limp home mode.
Your truck is in limp mode because your fuel mixture sensor is bad, I think that toyota has put this part back under warranty because of so many problems
If it is unresponsive to throttle changes it could be the throttle position sensor or maf sensor. Get some throttle body cleaner and follow the directions. Depending on location of the maf sensor you may need to remove it to clean it. Google search it and watch some video on it.
You should go to an actual Hyundai dealer . My angine lights started flashing one time with similar symptoms as what you described and they easily fixed it.
dear friend if your vehicle get stuck in third gear, then it means your vehicle goes in limp mode, you should take your to a repair shop for a diagnostic test, there must be fault code present.
